Lightbulb Installing new Biltin bearings, lube?

I just got my new Biltin bearings and I don't live near any skateshops. Do I need to put lube on my new Biltin bearings before I install them? Is there any lubricant that I can use from a local hardware store?

No, they should already be lubed. The only time you would need lube is if you're cleaning out your bearings later on.

I do recommend wiping off some of the lube from the front shield if there is any, so it doesnt attract dirt/dust.

Cool Re: Installing new Biltin bearings, lube?

Builtins have a modest lube out of the Tube... You can run them like they are but add a dash of fully synthetic lube... just a little drip so it won't leak out the face sheild and attract dust.

Once you Run the builtins you will like them more and more

Thanks for the replies, I am beginner rider and just got a sector 9 complete about 2 weeks ago. I decided to get some biltin bearings cause I heard good things and am down for anything to increase top speed on flat land.

I don't think they are going to effect your speed unless you were running some dirty or broken bearings to begin with.

That being said, the addition of built in spacers and speed rings is worth the price of admission IMHO. Even though the lack of shields on the back side is annoying.

Well, you don't really need shields on the back.
There's generally not dirt coming from the inside of your wheel.

Maybe so, maybe not. I find Bilitins to be super convenient for switching wheels but also one of the absolutely most difficult to have retain lubricant and to stay clean.
