Question centre v offset

heyheyhey

quick question,
Im torn between either bigzigs or fly wheels (76mm) to slap on a Drop Speed.
I loooooooovvveee the look of wide wheels (make anyboard look better), and am not a fan at all of the look of narrow wheels on boards (sooo un-flattering).
The width of these two is the same (forgetting the 1mm difference). Thing is (and i just realised), because the fly is centreset the wheel doesn't hang off the hanger as far as the bigzig...so it's as though, for the fly, the whole wheel is closer to the deck.
The easiest way to tell how much further the bigzigs stick out is to measure the distance from the outer edge of the wheel to the end of the axel or nut. The flys axel end will be closer to the out edge of the wheel than the bigzigs, question is by how much??
Make sense? Can anyone help?
Im thinking alot about it because, for me, these wheels will cost $100 - $120. So i kinda want to get it right

Thanks!

ps. using the wheels for free-riding, want a smooth slippery ride, being able to drift at low speeds would be nice haha

Since you "Loooove" the looks of wide wheels, I'd say Big Zigs..But remeber too, that you need to consider what kinda riding you'll be doing.I have several of each..and I like them both for different reasons

flys will slide better i've ridden my friends big zigs and i own flys. the flys are quiet and don't chatter when you slide/drift them, the big zigs not so much, very loud and chatter. since you want to free ride which involves a lot of sliding/ drifting i say flys all the way. hope i helped

The flys are a better freeride/drift wheel. Bigzigs are rather hard to drift in comparison. For what you want performance wise, flys are it.

I retract my vote of Bigzigs..simply because it was for your aesthetic reasons..Flys are a better all around wheel..Get 'em.

I hate the way 76mm fly's feel, too harsh a ride for the size, 83mms feel better because of the increased thane depth, for center set wheels I prefer the 77mm Hawgs

+1 for the Hawgz. I cant remember what duros they come in, but i would get 80a, or 82a (if they come in 82a)

And why the hell are the wheels gunna cost you $100? A set of wheels should never cost more than $55 IMHO

he's from australia, here you can't really pick up a set of big zigs for less than 80 or fly's for less than 100,

mate check out Cre8ive sk8 give adrian a call or check Boardshop Australia Skateboard Shop for Longboard, Old School, Pool & Slalom Skateboards they'll do you a good price
