Black Ops
I got a pair of Black ops wheels from Mr. Pappas in april. I've been pumping a couple miles a day and racing on them and they don't cone too quickly, very durable and grippy. I've been a huge fan of zig zags but I think I'm gonna have to switch soon cause all my zigs seem to chunk after a month of hard riding, the Hspots are still very solid. It's nice to have some wheels that I can really trust and know I won't have to replace every six months.

89? that's wicked hard. Are you skating on glass or marble surface? Mig is the only guy I've seen who can create the kind of down force to make 89s sticky on regular pavement.
I don't know about the chattering, have you checked your bearings and spacers?

Re: Black Ops
The purple 89A Hot Spots are pre-Back Ops. In the new Black Ops formula, we only go up to 87A, which is molded in translucent black "smoke".

Also good for very warm asphalt.
Some people will go even harder.

Out of the box these wheels feel amazing. Best Feeling wheel imo, compared to the zigs, the old spots, even the p pistol wheels. But opinion is opinion. I'm pretty tough on my wheels, but the wear was a little quicker than I wear my zigs. I wish I could throw down money for a new set every time I wore out a old one. all in all a great wheel.

Good point.
When the surface is tested at over 130 degrees...............no place for soft wheels.
92As would work.
Peace.

Re: Black Ops
mmmh
every time somebody throws in some new candy almost everybody goes for that flavor.
so zig zags a re not as good as....
interesting observation.
i bet a few pros will deny that statement....
but... they are clever enough not to post all this on messageboards.
don\'t talk about it-do it

hardness doesn't really affect grip that much.
as for chattering, its how wheels slide, they all have a different frequency. bigzigs have more of a fart, like 60hz or lower. these have like a squeeky fart, something like noschoolz is so high frequency its just a scream.
try the 92a grippins if you want a fun wheel.

Does that apply to decks and trucks also?
How are you these days, Donald?

Re: Black Ops
hey jack
you're right about the flavors
after the worlds and the euros we are pretty much set.
but the candy store never stops working and the next flavors are already happening
this x-mas we'll throw some extra jaw dropping candies into the round
i mentioned before that we will turn back time
the holiest of grails will be desecreated
when you see the outcome you will believe us....
just imagine a world without the crazy germans...it would be boring
don't you agree?
don\'t talk about it-do it

Re: Black Ops
Lots of fast guys have been on these wheels this season, Fluitt won the Nationals on them and I suppose everyone does like new flavors or else we would still be on stingers and hyper stradas. That is how our sport develops.
I like how the zig zags feel but so many of them just fall apart. I put a pair of greens on the front three weeks ago and they are already chunking and shredding. I see it happen all the time, my friend got a new Axe complete this summer: the zig zags had a huge chunk missing after three days! Meanwhile on the back I have the same hot spots I've had for almost six months, they are just starting to cone.
True, crazy Germans do make things more interesting!

Re: Black Ops
I have yet to really try the Black Ops. I did one run with 84a's and another one with 87a's on the back of my Tight setup in a straight course. So not enough to make a judgement.
You have to remember when the Zigs came out, they were advertized and designed has slalom racing wheels. If you run them in cones (what they were initially designed for), they don't chunk or shred. If you start powersliding them, voluntarily drifting them, kickturning them, or whatever else you want to do with them, they will chunk and shred and loose there grip.
Of all the ones i use for running cones and racing (83a-86a-89a in 66mm-70mm-75mm), not a single one of them has chunked or shredded. If you use them for what they were intended to, they will last. I'm still racing some who are 3 seasons old.
And coning is not a bad thing, it's a very good thing when you want grip.
