    Default Pure Grip.....................no Slide!

I do some downhill riding here in the San Gabriel valley about 35-45mph at times and need a wheel that grips like crazy! I carve to control my speed and dont want any "slide suprises". What wheels are the grippiest possible? NO SLIDING!!!!! ( I kow what your going to say: "At some point all wheels slide". Well, which slide the least?

Some guy just made a 80 x 85 wheel, as in 85mm wide. They're called big ones i think. Check them out

the Earthwings are great wheels, but I think the Avilas are more grippy

my favorites are the 3dm Avila wheel 75mm 77a. I think you can get them even softer than that.

Oh yeah... forgot about those 72a's. The thing is about them, is that if you wiegh over 150-ish pounds, they will deform under your weight, and roll really slowly.

Cant quite agree with that. I ve got 75a Avilas and the Superballs. Both are broken in and the Superballs have way more grip. Not sure anymore which grips better when brand new but broken in definatly the superballs. I also think my lime 80a BigZigs grip pretty well. A bit better than avilas but not as much as the Superballs - Just the way I experiance it. Maybe with a different setup and riding style you can get more grip out of the avilas. What I might also note is that the avilas grip insanely in the lower speed regions up to around 20 - 30 mph but then tend to loose lots of their grip.

Other wheels that I have not tried but are reputed to be super sticky are Landy Monster Hawgs (Same mould as the superballs but with a square lip) Seismic Speedvents and the Loaded wheels.

the loaded wheels are not sticky
they slide a ton, and albeit predictable, it's not what you're looking for.

EW Superballs are damn grippy, can't say anything about the avilas since i've never tried them... but Superballs will definitaly get the job done.

Earthwing slide a's grip really well. I downhill on them all the time.
At the top of a hill at a very rapid speed there's only one place to go.
At the top of a hill at a very high speed there's nowhere to go but down.
