Hmm... I don't quite understand what you are saying, but I can't hear my bigzigs while I am riding them. I think the noise that you are hearing is not coming from your wheels, but from your bearings. So If you keep the same bearings, the wheels will be just as loud.

Some other boards I never ride
I have some 73a durometer wheels. Are the Big Zigs 81a louder when ridden? I have my ideas about them but just wanted to confirm it.
Depending on what sort of pavement you have, they could be louder. I've got a set of 77a pink BigZigs and a set of 86a orange BigZigs, and I do find the pinks to be softer on rougher pavement. The oranges ride well but are slightly louder because the harder urethane doesn't dampen uneven paving as well. On smoother surfaces, as you can imagine, they are both very similar.
As far as performance and use, I use the pinks when I want to just cruise around or when I need lots of traction for harder carves. The oranges are much better for a longer roll and hotter pavement; they also slide easier, of course. But then again, I learned to slide on a pintail with the pinks. To each his own.
I hope this helps somewhat.
-k.
Also, unless I'm mistaken the BigZigs come in 77a, 80a, 83a, 86a, and 89a (pink, lime, lemon, orange, and orange+).

I think the harder a wheels is (all other factors bieng equal) on the street
the louder it is, the softer the wheel, the quieter? Never really thought
about it much but it seems to have been my experiance.
