Okay I'm riding zigzag lemons right now and even though I love the wheels I was looking for a downhill wheel with a little more give in the drifts. I like the idea of big round-lipped wheels hawgs and krypto's but I tried kryptos and the thane on them was unbearable. i was riding 80mm kryptoniks classics clear and they were slow as hell. I was looking into hawgs and they look like they use an identical mold and hub. In a review I heard someone say they are slow also so I was wondering if they have the same urethane.
I've tried flywheels and I thought they were great. I tried both 90's and 97's but they were both too large for me. Drift great though. I was thinking of buying them in 76mm. Anybody have any input?
Oooo. Good idea. I have the tools I need to lip my lemons and I like doing things myself but... damn I dunno if I can take a knife to a set of 70$ wheels. Do many people do this? Are the results every bad?
i'm pretty sure there's one or two tutorials/how-to's on trimming and/or radiusing wheels in the archives... it's probably worth doing a search. hopefully it's a thread with an obvious title like "how to radius your wheels." i know the Longboard Store used to trim 3dm race wheels to square off the lip, so you could maybe send them an email, see if they have any tips.
I'd go with 83mm Flywheels, they have a little more meat on them. Strikers are very drifty, but I don't know if I'd use them for downhill since they might be a little too drifty
Another option would be 76 or 81mm S9 Race Formula's. Nice thane and radiused edges. They also won't break the bank. Check out Mile High for prices on them...less than $50. if I remember right.

i second that. they were on sale the other day for low 30's.

another easy way to radius wheels is to sit down on your board down a mellow hill, take a piece of sandpaper and just push on the lip of the wheel with the sandpaper as you're going down hill.
let the gravity work for you.
flip the wheels to do the inside edges easier

76 flywheels are killer, get allround wheel. not much urethane on them though, so if you have rough roads, look at a wheel with no core. i got a set of yellow alligators, im very impressed.

Krypto-esque slide with better grip and durability.
The 77a Pink urethane slides smoothly, but IME the Lime Reflex urethane has more grip and slides just as smoothly.
