I'm setiing up a speed carving/drifting/all around awesome type deck and I think I would like to go with blastwaves. Anyone have any advice on which duro/thane options to go with? I haven't ridden any of the seismics before. I want a drifty wheel that wont chunk, but would like to be able to feel my feet too I'm thinking about the 79a translucent sky blue ones.

Different strokes for different folks. Erik Lundberg, 2007 IGSA, World champ, rides blastwaves and Speedvents. He won almost all of his races riding them. He's a fast rider and that's why he was the champ, but fast riders usually like fast gear...
I've been thinking about it and i think I might just stick with a wheel I'm familiar with for now. Not really in the mood to chance things yet. But I will be soon enough. Thanks guys.

I push my 75A blast waves pretty hard and I'm 220 lbs. I don't do sliding intentionally, but when they do break free they are very predictable. No chunks yet.

Because everyone knows gear alone makes you the world champ, no skill, training or time involved, just the wheels you ride.
Dude white avalons (80a i think) are amazing after a few hard carves, the thane feels so slippery. But the lip of those wheels chip easy (its not really chunking though)
I have a friend that is ridiculous fast on 73a avilas, they kinda look like someone took a weedwacker to them now (chunking out INSANE) but they still roll fine. All but one of my Rayne demos are set up on 3dm urethane. The hellcat came with blue avilas (I believe its 83a), which I didn't like at first due to the driftyness, but Ive grown 2 enjoy them quite alot. Ive ridden white speed vents before (80a) and they grip like they are glued to the concrete. I also have white avalons (80a) set up on a timeline and pug and they stick extremely well!
If you want drift, I'd say get the 83a blast waves. Or I have some reflex gumballs on my hustler that drift like mad.

I would have to disagree about the grippyness of the Avalons. Although when new they are ridiculouly hard to break loose, they become very drifty once that outer lip wears in a bit. But, the last set of Avalons I had were from 2 years ago so the urethane compound has probably changed by now.
