I'm riding a S9 maccas sidewinder and I don't want to slide at all - kind of defeats the reason I got such tight turning trucks. The 69mm/75a wheels that came stock grip pretty well, but they still slide out a little on faster turns... I'm afraid I'm going to wear them down if I keep turning like that.
What's the best wheel I can get for pure grip, no slide? 75mm is probably the biggest I can confidently fit without worrying about wheelbite (switched risers for 1/8, it's closer now,) I'd like to keep them around 70 -72mm.
when I say grip, I mean GRIP - I'm only about 130 lbs. so I don't really have the weight thing going.
any wheel will slide. i tell you what you need to do............take a torch to your wheels just before your run.....stop heating them right when they start to melt a little. of course they wont last very long that way.
ok on a serious note.........just do some searching. get a low durometer rating and as wide as you can go without wheelbite. if im not mistaken ........the larger mm will be harder to slide also.
+1 on what AJ said. Every wheel will eventually slide, and a wheel that will barely slide will slide very poorly and probably buck you off while a wheel that grips for the most part but then slides smoothly will be much easier to control.
if I were to ride a board like that i would put grippy shaped wheels in a harder durometer (80a +) on and go throw some super fast, tight, drifty carves all over the place. that controls your speed much better than pure grip and is 10000 times more fun and stylish looking.
ps. grip is boring

thanks, advice much appreciated. my only concern with sliding is wear on the wheels - from what I've read, softer wheels wear quicker and develop flat spots, and I'm afraid harder wheels just won't give me the grip I'm looking for. I'll take a better look at the stickys and see what I can find, but +1 to speshlspeclsteak for being the only one that actually gave me a specific wheel suggestion.
lol @ Pat S.......grip is boring.
i doubt you're going to develop flat spots unless you really slide. not just "drifting" a little. while drifting, the wheel is still turning/rolling, therefore not sliding in the same spot. if you were to slide exactly 90 degrees your wheels would slide on the exact same spot throughout the whole slide. i.e. powerslides.
and why didn't i get a +1, i gave you a very good idea to get "extreme" grip. lol j/k

you just got a +1 for answering my wear/flat spot concerns. ...and for the humor.
I'll check out the 3dm's too...
Somebody throw a durometer at me and I'm set. useful info for that:
- there's a lot of rough roads around here, I want to be able to go over pretty much anything short of gravel without getting launched off and looking like an idiot.
- want something that won't slide too easily, but is predictable when it does.
fast grippy wheels with smooth slides- any duro zig, gators, superballs, orangatangs, grippens, S9 RF, and tunnel turantulas. now pick which looks the coolest
