Campus cruiser wheel for a LY Spud

I Bought a LY Spud about a month ago on my way to college (my first longboard). It came with 180mm RII's with 76mm S9 78a wheels and Daddies Board Shop bearings. I have been riding it around campus and i absolutely love it, although i don't think i like the wheels. The size is good on them cause i can roll over just about anything but they feel kind of slow? and since i'm just learning to carve i want a wheel that feels stickier but these don't for some reason despite the low durometer rating. I was thinking maybe gumballs or lime bigzigs. what do you think? and should i upgrade bearings?

Have you cleaned your bearings lately?

With that deck I think you will appreciate wheels 76mm-83mm
