I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if they are any nicer than Bones Red bearings. I'm looking for something for cruising, don't need to be ultra durable because I won't be doing shoveits or anything.
Abec11s are AMAZING you will not be disappointed. Much better than reds and can have built in spacers and speedrings. Definately best bearings for the price IMO.
However if youre just cruising, the reds will do fine as well. Its up to your wallet.
Biltins > Reds
expensive though..but they worth it.
If you're just cruising, any cheap bearings will work nicely.

Shimotakimas' opinion, (IMO) is fact.

Finally caved and bought two sets from MHS yesterday. Gonna keep them in the wheels that go from board to board. Never heard a bad thing about them. If you go to Mile High there's a slew of good reviews.

builtins are the strongest bearings i've ever uses, i cant seem to break one. any other bearing in my slide setup will get broken at some point, i've been riding these in there for 2 years now, and they wont break. though they are slightly slower than reds imo, but barely noticable, speed cream fixes this a bit, but then they are still slightly slower
My favorite bearings, and I've tried a ton. As my old ones die I replace them with Biltins. They hardly get dirty, and when they do they're so easy to clean. And everything is built in.

Bomb hills, not exams.
Good bearings until they touch water. I have owned two pairs and both rusted and locked within 2 months. However if you have a dryer climate, these bearings are wicked.
Easy to switch the wheels they are in to another hanger.
Easy to clean because you don't really need to remove the shields. Ditto on lubing.
Minus:
One sided shields let them get dirty/wet fast.

The shields are somewhat prone to denting. They also don't keep crud out as well as a seal, so you'll need to clean/lube them often. They make wheel changes a snap, though.

Probably the best bearing out there. They really increase rigidity and axle strength and improve slides, so basically, they are the one bearing that actually makes a significant performance difference.
They aren't sealed which is a major problem if you ask me, but I never have run them stock, I always put Pleasure Tools seals on them. Plus, they come with assembly lube that you need to flush out of them or they gum up. So buy them, buy some Pleasure Tools bearings from edsbearings.com, clean the biltins with solvent, lube them up with some thin grease and put the Pleasure Tools seals on them. The Pleasure Tools are great bearings and are only a few bucks, plus robbing one set of shields off them, you can still use them justs fine in another board.
I have always been a huge fan of Reds, but I recently grabbed some Builtins that were on sale at the local shop. I noticed the difference immediately. Silent, fast, and I noticed they roll on a lot longer than my Reds (with spacers+washers). Only problem is that they seem to have a lower top speed, but I realized after a few runs that I did get an Abec 3 set. Should have held out for 7.
Overall, I'd say they're better and at roughly the same price you can't go wrong.

If only there were a 10mm axle version of biltins I wouldn't have to get in touch with some engineers about pricing up some inner races a-la biltin style in 10mm

Are there any more seals I could get? I am in Canada and have mine coming in and NEED to seal them if they are prone to rust/wear from a harsher climate.
also, I have them coming on a complete, will they send the cream with the complete?
Hope I can get these baby's prepped I'm so excited for my setup: (ver. 2) Nemisis, RII's w/ 91a Venom Standards, Abec 7 Biltins and Orange O-Tangs 4 Prez

damn... really? that seems like quite a process for $30 bearings to run right.
slightly offtopic - what kinds/brands of solvents and lubes do you guys use with your biltins? I've been using mineral spirits and bones cream on my other bearings, but I'm getting some biltins soon.
The (blue) seals from the MHS bearings fit Biltins just fine, and do a much better job at keeping crud out.

biltins are hands down my favorite bearings. simple. low maintenance. includes spacer and speed ring. easy to clean. etc!
biltins are steel and dont use cream. they use regular lube or oil. cream is only used for ceramic bearings
i live in california so im sorry but i cant really help you on the harsh climate part

no worries! I am just prepping myself to take care of my baby haha how often do you ride/clean? any tips tricks for these bearings?
do I need to get covers for the backside of the bearings? it seems they are open to the air in the store pictures and with what I just dropped on this Nemesis set-up (RII's, Otangs) including some needed bombsquad nose and tail guards, new venom 91a bushings and some black velvet pucks coming in with it I want to be completely converted from nearly 10 years of polite and simple street short boarding (when that existed and kids weren't trying to relive The Wire with skate gangs takin' corners).
