Default Best wheels for the Apex 34?

I have an Apex 34 on pre-order(will be here next week ) Which wheels, no larger than 62mm, do you think I should get? I will be using it for carving/stand-up slides/freestyle.

    TIA

It comes with Kyrptos. The reason I asked is because I can get Original to put Cambrias on it for and extra $30 or I can buy some other wheels.

    lmk what you guys think!

The Kryptos suck. Upgrade to Cambrias or Zigs or something else, but don't waste your time on the Kryptos.

Will "Retro" lime zigzags 66mm 80a work well with an apex 34 with s6 trucks??

I would go for low duro zig zags or 3dm wheels. you will need something grippy cos the original trucks turn so tight they can loose traction at higher speeds or in damp/wet conditions. my friends malakai with lime big zigs slide out whenever he carves on a slihtly wet surface. It is epic fun watching him bail then fly past him on my derv XD.

Grip. The 66mm Zigs would be nice; however, they are the retro thane, so they will be grippier than most. The reason that doesn't matter is because of the insane turning geometry of those trucks.

Because you will be able to turn so tightly, you should take into account the change in contact patch, duro, diameter, and general behavior of the urethane (retro, purethane, orangatang, 3dm, etc). Compensate for the anticipated extra steering ability, and choose.

Depending on how much you weigh, and whether you prefer a slightly grippy thane or a thane more prone to sliding easily (I will assume the latter), I'd say get a: 83a(-160), 80a(160+). If you prefer slightly grippier wheels, I'd stick with a 80a(-160), 78a(160+). But that's just what I think would feel nice to most.

Personally I prefer harder wheels, and stick to 86a retro freerides for the same type of thing as you. They're bigger though, if I was to use small wheels like you are wanting, I'm not sure. I think I would want grippier wheels at that diameter.

If you want a square wheel, I think the Cambria 62mm 84a would suffice.
Maybe look into the 83a (or possibly even the 86a) 66mm Retro Zig's. The Cambria are 42mm contact patch and the zigs are 48.5mm contact patch.

I don't think a square wheel would be what your looking for though. I like round edge wheels better for freestyle/sliding.
Look into the Abec 11 No Skoolz 65mm/60mm, around the 81a range. Adjust duro to taste. 42mm wide. 36mm/34mm contact patch.
Or possibly consider the Abec 11 Striker 66mm in the 81a or 84a duro. 38mm contact patch.

I have a lot of good feelings towards Abec 11 and its constituents, and 3DM/Avila, which is why I recommend them. I'm sure there are other great wheels out there with closeness in specification, that would be a different wheel because of the thane.
    I love longboarding. Especially slope-style free-riding. Mmm.

Check out the new Phat Dean Phat Rollz, they're 84a, beveled and perfect for an Apex. I've had both the 34 and the 37. While the original trucks are unique and good for cruising the are so heavy. For sliding I swapped them with Indy 215s and no skoolz 80a). This setup was low and light perfect for sliding.

I dont know if they will be able to handle 70mm wheels with s6 trucks without wheelbite, ask Original, but if you want to be sure, i would go with 66mm max. I have a Malakai with 4 pres purple wheels and i love it, but besides the deck, the wheels are harder to slide, although they have the right combination between grip/slide for that deck and my weight (145) i believe. As the previous guys said, i think that an Apex 34 with s6 trucks would be great with 66 zig zags if you want grip, or NoSkoolz if you want to slide a bit more.
