Default best wheels for rough, gravel pavement?

After doing some research, some good solid all around wheels would be the pink powerballs or the sector race formula 9's. For some reason the section where I live, they haven't repaved the road for awhile so it's pretty rough... and impossible to ride on my skateboard. Of course the places that I plan to go have better paved roads, but a majority of where I'm going to be riding would be near my house. What are some specs(please) and suggestions for wheels that I should get just basically for cruising around my neighborhood on these unpaved roads? Any help appreciate, thanks in advance!

Powerballs and the 70mm s9 wheels are pretty good wheels, but, they won't be as smooth as something with a smaller core and more urethane depth. If you want a more plush, smooth ride you should try something like a Retro zig zag or if you want to stick to s9 you should try the 69mm s9 rf wheels.

Definitely get softer wheels for rough roads. The powerball are great wheels, but for cruising around you should look into pink zigzags or the 78a s9's.

75a Flashies might fit the bill as well. I have oodles and oodles of wheels and I always seem to favour these for any sort of pushing/commuting on any type of pavement, really.

These people speak truth. Sector 9 Race Formula wheels are really nice.

I have the same type of pavement and love powerballs, but if you hit loose asphalt pebbles (or acorns, etc.) you might do a superman (I have). I have used 78A Gumballs, 81A Zags and Griffins, and 78A? Blastwaves which all work well for rolling over crap.

I agree with the guy that was suggesting a deeper urethane...the zigzags or (depending on wheelbite issues) bigzigs...are great boards...I would get a 78a wheel...nice and soft for bad streets...but not squash to the point of losing performance...best of luck! (nothing like the newly paved roads...gah...fresh asphalt in the mornin...my favorite!!)

Powerballs are mentioned a couple times in this thread, and I think they are a big no-no. I had the Powerballs and wanted something more comfortable. Great wheels no doubt, one of my favourites, but I really can't recommend for "rough, gravel pavement" in any way.

I started a thread a while back, about which would be the best wheels for rough pavement conditions as a replacement for Powerballs:

    http://www.silverfishlongboarding.co...light=plushest

Here's what I said about the P'balls on the above thread...

"Right now I'm ridding my Dervish with Powerballs... My favourite all-round wheel for the Dervish. Fast, enough-grip and great for stand-up sliding, colemans, 180s.

Only thing I don't really like about them is that the ride is a bit uncomfortable, they lack a bit of depth and in rough pavement, which I get a lot here, they are a pain to ride. Sometimes even a small pebble is a safety hazard."

So yeah, Chrispy23 is right about them, Superman ftw!

for that kind of terrain i'd go with 75-76mm, around 78a. Big wheels win for cruising on rough pavement.
Of the wheels I've ridden i'd recommend Gumballs (but I haven't ridden bigzigs).

How about 77mm strikers 75a, smaller contact patch, less rolling resistance. seems like a obvious choice.

Well, to me that's why it's not the best choice for cruising.
