i also took a set of 80a cults to the saint aubin freeride, and i can say they are very good wheels. they gripped extremely well and when they stepped out a little it was easy to feel and control, whereas some square lipped wheels will slide suddenly and unpredictably these let go gently almost like a round edged wheel.

i havnt slid mine much at all yet, i want to keep them in good condition for eastbourne. but im very happy with them and they have definately replaced the zigzags on my DH board.

other similar wheels i have ridden and so am comparing too are: pink lime and lemon zigs, lime bigzigs, Otangs, lush avalanches,81a flashbacks.

They are defo for sale in the UK, you can buy them at dangerousdecks.co.uk, top guys, even if the website is a little 'under construction'.

EPIC WHEELS. I was at St aubin with Rob and tried Lime BigZigz, 75a Blast waves and the 83.5a Cults. Cults win everytime.

I've been riding them more and more and like them so much I've literally just sold all my skate stuff except for one slide setup and one DH/Freeride/whatever setup with these on. Rail corners, do 10 foot powerslides, cruise down the beach, they do it ALL.

QFT, I actually learned soft wheel check slides with these just a few weeks ago. a friend mentioned that he also learned them after changing wheels (but to a round lipped wheel, EW freeriders). they really do let go predictably and catch back perfectly. I want to try them for slalom too..

I usually don't get too excited over wheels, but....
I'm bumping this because these are the best wheels I have ever ridden. Insane grip, predictable slides, fast thane, spit rocks, roll over cracks and bad pavement, etc, etc etc....
I originally thought that perhaps the reviews may have been a bit Euro-biased . But these guys really aren't exaggerating. They have a weird feeling like every bit of the contact patch is simultaneously sticking and propelling (?) It's really hard for me to explain. I couldn't believe the smooth slide right out of the box either. Wow.
Mine are the 80a, BTW. I'm gonna try the harder ones next.....

Hm. I guess I could've just said "they roll smooth".
Shitty paving, gravel on pavement, double shot rock, chip seal, et. al. Like stuff most people ride on every day.

    Bump.
I'm having a hard time figuring my 80a Deathrays out as they've become more broken in. They slide like butter, but I'm not really getting any initial grip. They grip about like my worn Flashbacks, ATM. I would think I'd be getting some decent traction still.
Could be.........I am experimenting with a new Indy setup so it could be just me riding like an asshole and not dialing in stuff correctly, too.
I was curious if anyone had any knowledge about these in the broken-in stages.
    Thanks in advance.

Worn in Cults still grip more than Otangs or Bigzigs, vents etc.
As they wear down they stay progressive. The hard grip that comes from a fresh wheel diminishes as the edges wear down. This is common to all wheels

How a wheel wears down is all about how you skate. And how you have your trucks set up.

finally picked up two sets of teh cults. One set of death rays and one set of gamma rays.

I decided to try out the death rays(80a I believe?) first and I threw them on my nemmi with 42s. First impressions... were good. Its hard to describe the feel. The word plush comes to mind. VERY PLUSH. I would liken it to sitting your axles on a set of very perky breasts.

The stoke of a fresh set of wheels started flowing so down the driveway and to the hills I went. The combination of agility, road feel, and speed put a smile on my face. I could feel every bump in the road except it wasn't annoying and noticeable. It was more like white noise in the backround. However, something that surprised me was that right out of the package I was breaking them out in hard carves. The first 90* was coming up, and I wasnt sure what to think about pushing a demanding line through the turn. THEY STUCK IT LIKE SEX.

After that I just hit turn after turn after turn and even on the worst quality pavement they held lines that i would usually wash out on. Only on one fast tight turn did they drift, but it was so smooth and directional that i didn't need to put a hand down for comfort. The hookup left me giddy.

I can tell these wheels will make for some effortless predrifts and killer slides. Lush you have outdone yourself. Thank you for the cults

Streetheap do you have any updates on how they feel broken in? I'm thinking about grabbing a set if they're magical powers don't dissapear with the mold release.
