Re: Cult wheels, review
I'm waiting on a set of the orange, I hope to hell I have them for the weekend!
I have a bunch of skateboards
Isn't this what you're supposed to put in a signature?

Break in is relatively easy. The wheels are perfect for fast dh and tech courses for the first 7mm. Drifts are buttery and the fat lips provide the grip you need. As the outer lips thin out the slide gets a little chattery and predrifts take a little effort comparitively. Once you muscle through a few more mm the wheels get perfect for slashing around and tight neighborhood runs. They get just right once the inner lips are gone
these wear much better than otangs. I previously thought otherwise but they are more durable and retain more grip than either 4prez or inheats. I have yet to put a serious flatspot on my set that hasn't slid itself out
So do your wheels now have no lips on them? I'm just kinda confused when you say "they get just right once the inner lips are gone."

yeah the inner lip eventually starts to whittle away to nothing. mine are right at that stage, with lots of little chucks pocked out of the last little sharp edge of the inner lips. Igotscars is totally speaking truth about the flat spots sliding themselves out.
imo, they get grippier with wear. my standup speedchecks are still somewhat inconsistent shall we say- when I switched the new blue ones on my DH skateboard (from the coned orange) it was way easier to get it horizontal. thinking back, it was easier with the new oranges too.
anyway, that's not to say that they don't still slide great as they wear - they do - but imo they get better for handsdown stuff. high speed drifts, predrifts, etc. the extra cone-grip gives you like more tracking time, slows things down almost while still feeling butter.

Re: Cult wheels, review
I'm a bit confused by these wheels...
On the cult website they only show two kinds of their wheels, the gamma ray and death ray, both 80a. The gammas are blue and the death rays are orange.
What happened to the green gamma rays that are 83.5a duro?
I'm thinking of getting a set of these for some moderate to slow speed sliding, along with the capability of some DH speed carving without sliding out resulting in me eating pavement.
I don't know what ones to get, and with all this confusion I have, it makes things harder...

Re: Cult wheels, review
from everything I've heard, the oranges have the sexiest urethane so thats what I went with.

I have the perfect solution. Read this review:
Cult "Gamma Ray" Review
Decide if that is the kind of ride you want. If it isn't go for the other one.
But remember. Square lipped wheels designed for downhill and grip are very bad for slow to moderate sliding.

as the session wore on i slid the inner lips away and to be able to compare slide and grip characteristics with and without the inner lips and was nice. for fast hands down drifting and sliding i just liked the feel alot more. But it also resulted in me tackling a curb and giving myself a slight concussion. so much less grip. the good and the bad hand in hand. take it as you will

Re: Cult wheels, review
Anyone care to compare these Cults to S9 rf 77m 82a?? Right now they are all thats left on my "new wheel" list, based solely on the hype machine (despite the price difference)

Re: Cult wheels, review
Very keen to get a set of these, cant decide between blue and orange. (death rays that is)
Just to confirm I havent got the wrong idea, they are:
Very grippy, stay grippy for longer relative to competitive wheels
Fast, fast as f/ck. (obviously)
Have a weird quirky convex shape that accelerates you out of corners...?
Wear slowly,
Oranges are better because they wear slower...?
Blues are blue.
Both are 80a, but are somehow different at the same time
(Need an unbiased opinion of a non-UK resident you guys might be biased! lol! but actually very keen to support a UK based company)
For the record its these or a set of 77m 82a RF, although probably both.

oranges ball hard. but if you would rather rail more turns at higher speeds go blue
