i was thinkin a belt sander or a gummy stone?
why not skate with them new wheels?
no need to go down steep hills just to break them in.
cruise around the city or park or a parking building. you'll enjoy the wheels more that way.

Re: new to DH
getting a switch in a week, with lemon freeriders
you rekon i could push iit to 90 plus kilometres??
-
Re: new to DH
That's awful fast to push! I can only push about 15mph on flat ground
If you have to ask... you shouldn't. how experienced are you? Can you slow down safely? Can you relax your muscles if you panic? Can you deal with unknown situations?

dude, don't tell someone to go 55mph on a brand new board.
get used to your board and how it handles (AT SPEED), THEN go 55mph on it.

Re: new to DH
I'm also new to DH, and i'm wondering about my evo, which i picked up a few days ago. I've been trying to slide on it, but can't get the board loose enough, despite having the same setup as other boards, on which i could slide easy. Is it just all about speed for sliding on an evo?

Re: new to DH
Hey guys, I am sorta moving into the DH discipline so I have been practicing some drifts + (hands down on ground turns) no idea what u call that.. I am having trouble throwing out my back wheels. Right now my setup is, please dont laugh T...T, a LY pocketknife + randal 150 with retro zag classic red. I know this board is not exactly a dh board but thats all I have atm and I just wanna practice. Anyone have some tips on how to drift with a super short "wheel based" + "short truck lengthed" board? Thanks
-
Re: new to DH
with a board that small, to be completely honest, its gonna be tough to drift let alone start to DH on. you should really think about getting a bigger board with some 180mm trucks. but if you wanna know, just go faster and put lots of weight on your hand and off the board, and use your legs to just push the wheels past the point where they grip.

If you start to ride some light dh on that it will make you a gewd rider. With a short wheelbase like that you really just have to learn to throw it around. Go faster, pad up, put some hands on the ground and giver er hell!

What wheels you have on there?
When i picked up my evo i couldnt slide it.
But i threw some older sector nine wheels on it and that did the trick.
It rips some really wide slides if i get it just right.

Re: new to DH
I'm hoping to get into racing this summer (not any pro racing, just casual local runs, no leathers or anything), and have a question regarding drafting, or rather speed control while drafting.
Obviously, you don't want to bump-draft, but what if you're picking up too much speed and can't pass (car in the other lane, coming up to a turn, whatever)? Do you just air brake, or roll out of the draft for a few seconds to bleed speed, or what?

You want to air brake slightly to keep pace with the person in front of you, so they don't start pulling away from you, and you can still stay in their draft.

Alrighty. In hindsight, that was kind of a stupid question.
Thanks!

yeah, it's really tricky to shave that speed without slowing too much and losing your place.
