Switch or Nemisis for DH?
Hello Silverfish. I am in the market for a DH board. I have a landyachtz cheif for carving and am wanting to get into the DH scene. I don't need this board to do any sorts of carving though. I am 5 foot 10 and 100 pounds, but am still growing and may end up to be over 6 ft 3 but I am only 13 right now. I have been looking at a number of different speedboards. I have been considering the Rayne Nemisis, the Landy Switch. I am concerned that the DemonSeed may be a bit too long and un-agile but I don't know if I will feel that once I try it out. I have heard that the Nemisis has even more footroom than an evo, is that true? What board will have the most footroom of the Nemisis and Switch? What board would you reccomend? I am leaning away from the D-seed and am having a hard time deciding between the Switch and Nemisis. Is the switch suitable for serious DH? Does it have any flex? What board would you reccomend? I want the board with the most footroom or the Switch and Nemisis. I will set this board up with 75 big zigs and 40* Bears. Thanks!

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
I would go with the nemesis over the switch, look around at some other boards also.

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
Nemesis will grip better and has a wider platform whereas the switch is lower and therefore more prone to drifting and has a thinner platform but more stable because it is lower (and I think it has a longer wheelbase).
In conclusion the switch will be slightly more stable and drifty whereas the nemesis will corner better. If you have a larger foot (us size 12 or bigger) go for the nemesis. If you have small feet go switch.
But this is all based on design and I have only ridden the nemesis so take it with a grain of salt.

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
The only problem with asking this is the switch is brand new and not to many people have it.
on the other hand many have the nemesis and love it so, i would try both out some how before purchasing
how about you just replace the face shield with a piece of plexiglass that has a superthin flexible screen embedded into. You could hook the sreen up to a live feed of a helmet cam thats mounted on a 360* pivot being controlled by a micro-computer in your leathers that also measures how fast you are going. Everyone could wear these super-suits and then it could display the location of other racers and their speed, even their tuck effectiveness measured by wind resistance.

first comment: wow! you are tall!
second comment: i agree with lukaz69. there aren't enough people who have tried the switch and really thrashed it for quality comments to surface. it was like when the old 9-ply evo first came out (anybody remember that?) and it took a while to realize that they had pressing problems for the 9-ply, but not the 11-ply, which is why you never see it produced anymore. it's those kinds of problems which arise with new boards. however, the nemesis has been around for a few (???) years now, and no one has had any serious complaints about it. my only qualm is that it's a little short for my tuck. I'm 6'1", so we're pretty close in height.
i would recommend the demonseed if you're looking for that kind of board, especially for your set-up.
hope this helps,
Albert

The evo is short for your tuck? i'm 6'2 and i can euro tuck on mine. but yeah, the dseed is alllllllll about footspace. if you want an agile dseed i'm sure you can set the trucks up for it.

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
You must be the skinniest thing ever! You could be huge if you exercised a bit throughout the next few years and eat well. I'm about 6'4", 220lbs.
I have a nemesis, and i love it. I have size 12 or 13 feet, and i love having a wide board. My dervish feels terrible riding it right after my nemesis. I dont do any serious dh by any means, i mostly just bust stand ups and speed checks all day. I love the board for that reason, and it is why i got it. I feel much more locked in that i ever did on my derv. I recommend the nemesis because of the width, and you will probably love it in a year or so.
I have never seen or ridden a switch though, so i cant say anything about it.

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
According to the internet, the switch is ~41" long has an effective foot space of 24.5" and a WB of 33". The Nemesis also has a 32-33" WB but is 39" long. so I would assume the foot space would be within 1" of each other with the switch probably having more. . Nemesis is wider ( 10" ) with 1" of drop ( but is also flush mount ) where the switch is 9.75" wide with 1.75" drop.
So going by the specs, since the WB is about the same they should have about the same agility for a DH board that youre looking for. They should both be perfectly fine DH boards. Whats good for one person may not be good for another so there is no one true way. What it comes down to now is room for your tuck. Beings that youre tall, and still growing either one will be tight for you. For the long run, the switch would be best as it would have more foot space and allow you some growth. Either way you will probably have to adapt to a small tuck.
Short of that a small dropped deck may not be what you will need in the end.

.
are the new ones flushmonted? i remember the first gen was then the 2nd gen wasnt. i had the 2nd gen and its a solid deck great for everything and anything.

+1 for being tall and using it as an excuse to get huge. I'm naturally skinny but i'm 6'5 with a big frame, wide shoulders etc, almost up to 200lbs now and getting scarier by minute
anyway, to be on topic... OP, no board is too small. I love riding small boards, even for DH. You learn the board that you ride. There are lots of small guys that ride Dseeds, and I'm sure there are a lot of big guys that ride 30" wb topmounts.

Incorrect. The nemesis is taller so the drops take up much less room. Nemmy's have about an inch more footspace than an evo despite their smaller size. Thats why its so sick.

No the Nemesis has around 25.5" of footspace. The drop bends are really tight so it has a huge standing platform, almost the same as the demonseed.
That being said Im looking at maybe replacing my Nemesis with the switch cause at 5'11" I honestly dont need all the footspace the Nemesis has.
Edit: Freakin beat

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
They aren't going to be flush-mounted. At least I don't think they are. There were problems with some of the first gen flushmounts delaming. The 2nd gen fixed these problems. From my experience the nemesis has made quite a splash in the 1.5 years it has been out. At first there were a segment of people who hadn't rode it making fun of it. Then people who owned the deck started posting their impressions and that turned the tide of opinion. Now a lot of people have it and they love it, myself included.
Anyway, I would personally go for the nemesis. It is my favorite board out of any I have ever ridden. I have a friend who is 6'4" 200 lbs who can ride it no problem.
The switch looks cool, but like has been said before, it is too new to get solid information on it. If you're feeling brave go for the switch without the reviews. That is what I did with the nemesis and I've never looked back.

Re: Switch or Nemisis for DH?
I'm also considering one of these, would the nemesis feel huge to me with size 10.5 feet? I know the standing platform is about the right length since it's similar to what I ride now, but I have no clue how that wide of a board would feel.
Nemesis/42 prandals/76mm RFs or 83a drifters
Five Mile A-6/hybrid 215s/RFs or drifters or flashbacks.

My first shot at it is going to be a race-setup with kahas on risers and 75a flys.
