3dm Avilas for DH?

Hey, I am going to be getting a landyachtz evo with bear grizzly trucks, but i am undecided on wheels. 3dm avilas look sick, but I've never ridden them. If they're good what durometer should I get?

Lots of grip. I'm running 85mm Speedvents and I consider these about as large as I would want to go.
I have tried many wheels down to 70mm and they all have something to bring to the table.

If you are a lighter rider or want a softer wheel, the Purple Skunk Avilas are lots of fun.

Ther are many better wheels for drifting (round lipped) etc.

Avillaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa's rock for dh, I love em.
They grip when you need them to and slide when you want them too.

I would suggest the 80a ( or is it 81a?) Avilas. Anything below would be too soft for DH and either slow you down or get chunked easily due to the thin sharp lips.

The oust mood wheels and the new Venom shocker wheels are pretty similar. You may wanna look at those too.

i have used them topmount and the grip was so ridiculous i had to switch
however i reckon they would do well on an evo, and possibly help stop its rear end tendencies

i have 81a 's (the blue ones) and they have tons of grip! but they dont slide too well. theyre super wide so the slide is a little rough and chattery. i like em but i probably wouldnt get another set

Id say theyre pretty decent for DH but when you slide them they chunk, but theyre really grippy

the chunking on avilas is good though cause it wheres in that ridiculous lip faster

Yeah I'm also wondering if i should get avilas, o'tang in heats or retro lime bigzigs. I've ridden big zigs before and i like them. Which would you recommend?

inheats. if you've never ridden tangs, try them before you try the avilas. they are a more well rounded wheel (in capablities).

Avila's are an awesome DH wheel but you really need to trim the lip if you want them to last easy to do takes about a minute a wheel saves chunking

I'd have to recommend against getting Avilas. Their grip is comparable to other wheels but their slide is pretty bad and their a bit slower. I'd go with BigZigs or Otangs if you're looking for a 75mm offset wheel for DH.

3dm thane is very nice, the wheels shapes are no compromise slalom wheels gripe is the design, if you want slip trimming the lips is easy enough. They are different than zigs better hook up after sliding IMO and it's easier to feel wheel it's going to let go but Zigs are easier to make let go in my opinion

BigZigs are a bit cheaper than Otangs but Otangs slide a bit better. They're both awesome wheels, it's hard to go wrong with either.

OK so if I get o'tangs should I get 4 prez or In heats??? And if I get avilas what duro should I get???
