I just got a EW mystery model. So I will vote for that. It is the only topmount speedboard i have ridden.

good foot placement, yes, but no extra clearance. there are no wheel wells on that guy and the cutouts aren't deep enough on the platform to prevent wheelbite. Cutout failure on this board, just like the EW mystery model

Re: Your Top 5 Downhill Topmounts
lots of people are saying either the 08 avenger or 09 avenger. Is that just pre and post w cave?
ps. are there any cons of w cave other than getting uncomfortable after long lengths of pushing?

That is what I was getting at. I stood on David Prices personal one, and he even sanded in his own ghetto wheel wells.

the cut-outs on my board do give extra clearance compared to a more full-bodied top-mount. its kinda a compromise between wheel clearance and room for your front foot to be right behind the front truck. and all the madrid boards, including mine do have wheel-wells, u just can't see them in that picture. i can run munkae trucks, no risers and 70mm wheels with no bite..75-76mm it does get a little bite..look for the 2010 line-up to be tweaked, better, wider, deeper wheel-wells, down to 2 plys if i have my way.
and yes, i have sanded in some small wheel wells for now, might not look super sexy but it works!
and my fav. tom-mounts that i've ridden
OG comet voodoo
anything foamcore by longboard larry
some wierd custom LY baords that hugh johnson and hoodie had at ditch slap, those felt sweet!
and the new avenger looks bad-ass to.

to go for a skate is to go for a drift, to explore the streets looking for hidden places, opportunities for creative misappropriation; it is to recombine the artifacts of production and reinterpret the city for oneself-ocean howell

just out of pure interest (so I can narrow down the reason for your dissatisfaction):
which model and # did you own?
who sold it to you?
