i can't tell but if you don't think it'll break off if there's an impact you might want to change how it's mounted.
It's designed to bend a bit in the event of a crash, hard to tell how much with the foam though.

Roughed out the shape and primer/sealed. Added 1/4 lip of glass along bottom of fairing and resined the back side to stiffen up a little, still will give under presure. To flimsy before and finish would have cracked.

Nice. You may have answered this, but was it difficult to remove the foam from the helmet? I painted my Azonic AZX once and found that removing it was simple, but getting it back in was a pain.

Usually they come out REAL easy just flex the helmet a little and pull. To put back in I apply REAL hot hot glue to the factory locations inside the shell, this gives me time to twist the foam back into place.
Because the fairing is flexy I have to p/u up some flexible primer up this week.
I also found a supplier for factory style rubber trim for the bottom of the helmet (even fire rated for car helmets with nomex) and face opening on my other helmets.
This is going to bring the price way down on my other helmets as it saves HOURS of time masking!

    thats sick.
How fragile is that faring and is supposed to break way? Ive heard of nasty stories about fairings tweaking riders necks with blows to the back of the head.( i think a guy was killed at hot heels because of it)

the question remains... is there anything piedogger cant do with a bell drop.

haha do you have to take out the foam to paint it?

I really don't believe that, if you're going to post #### like that site your sources. Otherwise you're just using scare tactics.

I believe all of your questions are answered somewhere in this thread. It's only 5 pages, try reading through it instead of just looking at the pictures and then asking a question that 3 other people have asked.

FYI, I didnt pass tech with my Bell Drop Aero mod.... IGSA prohibits such modifications.

thats so rediculous. they allow what are essentially home made helmets with no certification.. but not modified lids... wheres the sence there?

ive seen aero lids (beat engel i think?) where the inside is just like wrapping a towel round your head and covering it in fibreglass..

BUT, more importantly, whens this lid gonna get finsihed!?!?!

I suspect it depends on who's doing the inspecting and who's being inspected. It would amaze me if a nice, shiny and professional looking helmet mod like piedogger's got turned away. If it looks like you made it in your shed in fifteen minutes then people are bound to get nervous. That said, if Siegrist or scoot turned up to a race in a home knitted balaclava I doubt they'd be turned away. In short, governing bodies are gay.
What's the worst that could happen?

the vast majority of the aerolids made use low profile ski helmets as the base over which the shell goes.
    like this

so making a shell around it doesnt in any way tamper with the helmets normal properties.

that one looks like it has an icaro inside

hm i thought beats did. i know risches dont but if we got real aerolids arent about safety so its all rider choice. and the thing about riches and the like is that they were made as is not made then modified so when you look at them they seem safer than a modded one thats all im saying.
