    Default New to DH

Hi there. Im all new to dh and im looking for a propper setup. I was thinking of going with the "new" Rayne Isis with the 42 wedged randals and some 70 mm P'otangs. Cant find any reviews of the deck, so i would be pleased if somebody could tell me something about their experience with the Isis. Main dicipline would prolly be DH/freeride, but am also in for a smooth ride to the grocery store?

    Thanks in advance.

well the isis is made for smaller people with small feet so if thats you you'll probably enjoy enjoy the fit of it. It just came out so there really arent any reviews on it as of yet. Whats your height/weight/shoe size/board style preference so maybe we can point you in the ways of another deck as well to give you a few to choose from.

As for trucks i really don't like how 42 randals ride they feel like they have a huge dead spot in the middle but plenty of people love them so thats really just my opinion and they probably won't be very fun riding to the supermarket. You could look into bear grizzlies but your going to need to swap out the stock bushings for sure but they can be flipped to be more stable or unflipped for a more carvey ride which might be what your looking for. I really like paris trucks the best personally though, i think theyre a ton of fun to ride and if you throw in some harder bushings they feel super stable, throw in some really soft ones and they ride like originals. Lots of fun.

And wheels, definitely check out the earthwing purethane wheels, theyre really sick wheels that'd you probably enjoy alot. Other wheels worth noting are cult wheels which i've heard good things about but i haven't personally ridden them but i'm looking to get a set soon myself, and the new sayshun 0+ plasma wheels. Theyve been getting lots of good reviews here on the fish and my friends got a set and theyre a blast to ride.

i have the ISIS and it is a very good deck. the footpockets are nice. the board has no flex, which i prefer. i also have size 9 feet. i like this deck because i can get a good feel of the rails and dig in when sliding and stuff. but my experience with the deck so far has been nothing but super fun.
currently im running bears on it with white drifters.

Great answers guys. Im 6'12" and 184 lbs.. Atm im riding a Dervish/paris 180/86a y'Otangs with blue/orange double barres Khiros. This setup really allows me to mix a sweet a#s candy carver with a slidey freeridemachine.. Bus as i tried progressing to more speed/bigger hills, ive experienced that my setup doesnt work downhill. <-- Whopples! i did considered buying a "standard" DH-deck like the Hellcat/Demonseed/Nemesis, but the Isis just seem to tuck your feet in real nice and with a few inches shortage, it looks pretty darn maneuverable..

The Isis is board you have to stand on before buying, IMO. The concave is really made for small feet or a particular taste in concave. It felt uncomfortable to my 9.5 size foot.

I have size 9 feet and Clutch boards have nice concave for me.. Concave doesn't really get any more extreme than Rus's boards, does it? But I guess it's all preference.

i think he meant 6'1 or 6'2 because if he was 6'12 that would be 7' not to mention he probably would probably weight more than 184lbs

Comet boards, particularly the crystal chalice.

    LongboardSkater.com: Comet Longboard Skateboards

Or insect boards if you've got some cash.
I've ridden the misquito and it's incredibly for DH and Carving/freeriding

The Rayne Hellcat would be very nice too, I'm not a big fan of the nemesis.

And randalls are absolutely a great truck for cruising to the grocery store. Don't believe me?
Go to youtube, and search Whirling Dervishes. They were on randalls in that video.

Randalls are also a very popular downhill truck. In the past couple years at maryhill, theres been at least one top five finish on randalls.

Randall trucks are the best thing since buttered bread.
