Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
I'm looking for some slightly driftier wheels for my S9 bombhills.
I've always hated drifting but I really wantto give it a try. I've been trying to use my Pink Powerballs but everything I put my hand down and kick it out, I just make a super hard carve into the sidewalk.
So what are some good wheels to pull off drifts? i was thinking 83a 4president. Or maybe even Stimulus?
I weigh about 130lbs
I'm gonna tie you to the radiator and grape you!

Personal responsibility for one's choices is dead and buried, even in something as simple as a plank with four wheels.
pete..Having a board doesn't make you a longboarder-riding it does.

Mehby some of them pretty new red 82a race forms with the round lips. No experience with them though, but they sound pretty sweet for sliding.
Again not speaking from any personal experience with Powerballs, but [I've read] that they slide very nicely. Go faster!

A driftiier wheel will help, but try going faster and pushing harder. It is very easy to drift those wheels.

OP, I read your post wrong. I thought you were riding pink zigs. Powerballs slide AMAZINGLY. You don't need new wheels.

Powerballs are very drifty. Can you do a coleman slide on them? Cos I find them to slip a LOT. You proably need to go faster and find a tighter corner.

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
Sounds like you are trying to slide, not drift. Find a tight corner and enter it fast, you'll drift in no time.
New wheels is NOT the answer here.

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
your balls drift fine. just work on your technique, sounds like you were attempting to like predrift or something, not really drift
if youre really set on a different wheel the 70mm 80a race forms are a lot of fun, you can stick or drift.
purple 4prez or lemon zigz should also fit the bill.

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
oops sorry i meant slide. I just tried to slide them earlier today, but they wouldn't hook back up, I'd get it out, slide for like a foot, then have to carve to stop from going into the curb.

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
just work on technique, obviously they are hooking up if you can carve to dodge a curb, you just need to learn how to control the slide, and point it back downhill.

I'll keep working on it for now. But when the time comes, would Stimulus be too drifty? Would 4prez be the way to go?
I'm open to any wheel here, just around 70mm that can slide longer.

you're wheels will slide longer than a slalom shaped wheel
honestly just ride what you got, I recommend powerballs to people who want a drifty wheel

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
See if you can find a big WIDE slope, like a carpark or something. Practise there, especially in the wet. Getting your first few pendys down is really hard, most of the guys on here are so far along that they've forgotten how it was. Speed is definitely key, go far faster than you feel confident. I know it's really difficult to convince yourself to throw yourself at the ground when you're going fast, but it won't work otherwise. Have faith, wear pads, flay it.

S9 Bomb Hills as in that the board I ride.
And just a qucik update, I was riding down a mellow street, just to try to learn to pendy my powerballs and hook them back up. I was really able to break them out this time. Unlike before, where it was for a foot, I went for a lot longer, but I couldn't hook it back up, I just went over my bpard, down toward the bottom of the hill. Any tips for bringing it back?

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
If you can't drift powerballs, then you don't need any other wheel til you learn on those.
I have a bunch of skateboards
Isn't this what you're supposed to put in a signature?

Re: Drifty DH wheels for a medium-sized guy?
speed is key in sliding. the slower you are going the harder it is to break the friction barrier, and when you throw the first 180 you start to slow. so to ever come that, you have to be going fast enough to throw one slide and have enough speed to bring it back.
practice getting the first part of the pendy down, feel the motion of the deck and get a good feeling of how the wheels break and hook up.
also use your shoulders to initiate the slide. if you are just trying to spin with your legs, you are over working yourself. your shoulders should be what initiates the slide, use them to point in the direction you want to go. point with the shoulders and the rest will follow.
TINKERING WITH YOUR SETUP IS HALF THE FUN OF BOARDING.
