    Default Dropspeed setups

so, i think i'm about to pull the trigger and buy a dropspeed, just curious what everybody who owns one is running. I'm 220 and will be doing some downhill, nothing too crazy, but i want a setup that'll be stable for my weight, and allow me to some drifting/sliding as well. I'm curious what bushings other riders around my size may be running. Any tips or setups posted would be appreciated, thanks.

Paris' will bite unless you topmount them or stick to 66mm or less

Freeriding: Randal 50s - 90a venom Barrel Boardside, 85a Roadside, Orangatang Stims 86a
DH: Randal 42s 93a Barrels all around, Retro Zigzags 83a

Ive found that I like to ride 70mm wheels with it, i can run softer bushings.

hey thanks all, was looking at the daddies website and it says that, the drop through mounting for this board will only fit grizzly trucks, (not randalls) but i see some of you run randalls on the board, what's the deal? Also, read on here somewhere that running 75mm wheels can lead to wheelbite? also, you can flip the hangers on bear trucks right? bushing wise, i guess you gotta just play with different setups to get it right? i know, i know alot of noobs questions here.

you can topmount it with any trucks. topmounted 75mm should definitly be fine but dropped thru if carving i guess may get bite (i dont have it). yes you can flip the hanges. unflipped the baseplate angle is 57* and flipped its 47*. for bushings i would just get a khiro bushing kit. although it may seem dumb because ur obviously not going to be using all the bushings, it teaches you the kind of setups YOU like and then when you wanna get higher quality bushings you have an idea of what duros shapes etc you like. hope this helps.

You can drop randals through it. Some of them wont go through quite as smoothly although. To get it all the way in just tighten the bolts down slowly and uniformly so you dont stress the deck too much and when you get it all the way down loosen it a little bit.

I have run 76mm flywheels on my randal 42 plates and i did have problems with wheelbite. If you run bigger wheels you have to run harder bushings/tighten your trucks, and vice versa.

here is where your handy-dandy dremel tool truly shines.
just mark where the hanger doesn't quite go in, and take your dremel and sand it all off.
well, sanding is safer than cutting, but either way, take out the least material necessary to retain the strength of the nose and tail.

and good bushings if you're experiencing wheelbite are 90a and up. i personally would use 95a double barrel khiros cuz i weight a lot, but if you don't weight 200 lbs like me, 90a's would be fine.
also, play around with the bushing set up a little. remember cones are less restricting than barrels.

    good luck and have fun!

No difference, same board. Anyway grab some randal plates (50 or 42) so you don't bite because paris plates bring in the wheelbase.

bears 1040's with the stock double barrel bushings would be just right for you. your weight would compensate for the turning ability.

Hey man, I recently got a drop speed. I weigh 170lbs (skinny dude) and stand at 6ft 1 in tall. Plenty room to move on the board. Yes you can flip the Bears to better prep it got DH. Also, the stock bushings from daddies will be 90a which should be fine for DH. I switched mine for 85a yellow venoms w/ flat washers to make it a little more agile for free ride but no lose all stability when I want speed. at 220 I'd guess you want to stay round 90a. Also, I had a bad experience with DBS bearings (LOUD rattling when brand new from the box). I changed to bones and I'm happy. I'm running 83a O'tang Stims on mine. Wide enough wheel for some drifty DH and freeride. I got a size 11 shoe and my feet are locked in to that concave. I hope this info helps you decide what you want but I mostly freeride. This board is perfect for it because of the concave and symetrical design.

The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
The others- the living- are those who pushed their luck as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down..bowed down. But the edge is still out there.

i run mine top mount with 195 paris on 50* randal plates and switch between 80a 4pres and 78a 75mm s9 RF's. Bushings are green venom barrels roadside and red divine bushings roadside.

ive never ridden it drop thru but i willprobably switch once i get an actual top mount speed board. so far i like the drop speed top mounted but i put a bushing stop so my foot doesnt go too far over the front of the deck.

couldn't be happier, this setup is awesome for freeride, but with a crank on the trucks 50mph is nice and comfy. This is my go-to board as of now for everything.
