Is it worth owning two avengers?
Alright, I just love my avenger so much I'm even considering getting a second one just to set up for freerides. I know there are more freeridey decks out there, but I just feel so comfortable on my avenger that I'm really considering getting another. Is this just stupid/unimaginative/lazy?
Or I might get a Deelite, and turn my current DH avenger into my freeride board and the deelite into a purebred DHer.
Anyone else considered doing this kind of thing? Anyone else freeride on a topmount?

Re: Is it worth owning two avengers?
Your question is gonna fire up alot of childish Internet talk that wil go along the lines of "Oh noez freerides on ta topmoints?!?!?!" But in short yeah alot of people "freeride" on their topmount its all about whats comfortable for the rider. If you really like the avenger why not get a second one?

Re: Is it worth owning two avengers?
OMG, you have made my day. I'm not the only one that does this. My first DH board was a demonseed, then I started running it top mounted on Smokies when I switched to them, then I crashed it drifting around a corner, straight into a kerb luckily it was repairable. I love this board so much I phoned Rayne and got a second without the drop thro cut outs, just for my Smokies. So I now have one for freeride and one for DH.
However, the only downside was I found that I prefered the Avenger for DH, so now I have a board I don't use too much.
Go ahead and get a second Avenger, it is nice having a spare that you can rely on should you trash the first one, but just make sure that you wouldn't prefer an alternative for your freeride times.
You can never have too many boards.

Re: Is it worth owning two avengers?
Yup, especially if you can't be arsed to change wheels and stuff all the time. I used to have a chinook for driftyness and a tweaked version of a chinook called the Tengu for racing. It's good having such similar setups as it's easy to stay used to each setup when you switch around. Ended up selling it for a bidirectional jobby though.
Heh, now I just need a bidirectional race board! Damn!

I concur, if you like riding a topmount for freeride, go for it.

Re: Is it worth owning two avengers?
Great. I'm sold on the idea. I am kind of tempted by the EW Mystery model, but what if I don't love it as much? Just KNOW I'd love another avenger (although the wb has changed since my 2008 version, so it'd be different anyway).
As for bi-directional riding - I don't do much of that anyway, and I figure it's more fun when the board feels weird backwards anyway. I mean, my body feels weird going backways, so what's the difference?

Re: Is it worth owning two avengers?
imo, if you really like a deck then get another one. Like gavmck said, have 'em set up for different rides so you're not screwing around changing stuff all the time.
I got an Avenger out of the classifieds and was bummed over wheelbite on larger wheels I wanted to use for carving around the hood. I put some surfrodz axle extensions on it and let the good times roll.
I've got 2 Pagans, one tight and hard for bombing and one plush carving ninja.
Multiples on several other makes as well.
Go for it and make yourself happy which is the only thing that really matters.

Mix it up a bit and get something like a Nemesis or a Killswitch if you have the cash

Do it.
Why? Because you want to and you can.
Skateboarding is about taking what you want to do and doing it.
If you can do it, and you want to do it, do it.

Re: Is it worth owning two avengers?
Thanks all. It won't happen for a while anyway, because funds are low (ain't they always), but I think I'll do it anyway. Maybe if I sell some of my other setups. I don't really need the DHR, the Bigfoot, sure as hell don't want the vanguard any more, etc...

Aint that the sh!t. Loved my Dervish so much when I first got it, then found out what real longboarding was about, gave it away to my mates son, and I still have another that's for sale. No concave, too flexy, etc etc. Even when I just wanna go carve and cross step I still grab my FR demonseed.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing Loaded, (I still have their sticker on my snowboard), it's just that I think for me, there are better boards out there.
