Hey I'm new here but I was wondering if the rayne avenger is a good speed board like I wanted to know if it would be stable at speeds of 50-60 mph, on Haleakala on Maui? Thanks
The avenger can be great, like dan mac said, IF it's properly set up. Also, if your asking this question, you may not be ready for 50-60 mph.
Edit: \/ \/ \/ what fortune said

Alright thanks I think I'll get the avenger I was thinking about smokies tho on the avenger because I have been riding 10mm grizzlies on my demonseed for about a year now and it's super stable so I wanted to try precisions next.

Avenger with Smokies and black Jimzs is my DH board I use for the mountain roads here. So far I'm in the high 40s, which I know is slow by some standards, but it's quick enough for me, and I can tell the difference the trucks make over cast, although, you only really tell when the speeds go over 30mph, anything under that and I'd rather be on my randals.
who are you to tell him that when you don't know him?

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL COMPANIES!
The Avenger is fine for what you want to do with it. With adjustable wheel bases and top mount traction it's great for techy stuff too.
Your not ready to contribute in a relevant manner.
im only quoting a thread that said if you don't know don't get them When should I buy precisions?
"Learn to go fast on cast. Get yourself up to 50mph. Fall a lot and figure out WHY you fell."

Oh I know what you were doing. What I am saying is that you didn't come here and contribute relative facts from your own experience and then follow it up with reasons as to why this guy shouldn't do it. You just came in here with a cool quote that you read somewhere else. That's in bad taste and in my opinion is a stoke killer. Had you done that and then added your personal experiences with both cast and precision trucks and why he did or didn't need them, then it would not have looked as condescending.
To the OP:
Honestly, my opinion is if you want to spend the money, then do it because it's your money. There are plenty of guys/gals that DH and race on cast trucks and are very stable and fast. I have ridden precision trucks and think they feel great, however I have had plenty of luck on cast trucks and at my current speeds don't feel I would benefit from them.

my problem is that i have only experienced 50* randals and paris mainly because i live in new zealand.
i ride my 50* randals at around 70km/h both wedged so i don't see why he needs them when he could just get some 42*-35* baseplates

falling at 50 honestly has nothing to do with figuring out what kind of trucks you like best.
why did i fall at 50? i wasn't competent enough to handle the speed. some jackass ran into me. my board snapped in half. i hit a deer. huge pothole. spaceships.
when should you get precisions? when you want them. when shouldn't you get precisions? when you're not going to be able to pay your mortgage/rent because of it. (don't be soft. you could go without utilities for a month)
protip: not everything you read on the fish needs to be passed along as fact because you have a link to a thread where someone else said the same thing using a lot more words.
to the op:
yes. the rayne avenger is a sicknasty board that'll be adequate for your proposed intentions. same as all boards, if you can find someone who has one and stand on it and hopefully ride it a bit you'll know better if it's for you.
although, you are going from a double-drop to a topmount. you're also going to be losing at most 6.25 inches and at least 2.5 inches of wheelbase. so if you do go that route, or with topmounts in general, start slow and work your way back up to what you were doing on your current setup.

Same here. My top speed is probably in the 40 kmph area now, and cast trucks feel absolutely fine. Also while learning, cast trucks are perfect because a loss of up to $80 is a lot less than a loss of up to $400! (Or $700 for Maguns ;D)

Well you can buy CNC truck and ride it. The deal will be that you will alter your style of riding to the truck, and not choosing a CNC truck that fits your style.
A good idea is to find what you like.
Not sure if I am making sense here... It's late.
