I do it to be more aerodynamic basically, to not have the wind slow you down. I think the more you practice it the more comfy it will feel and the more stable you will be in your tuck, practice. You'll see you'll go faster when tucking.
Also I hold my hands out like Leo in Titanic to slow down at the end of my run. It's the opposite of the tuck. And to answer the other question, in my case I place my feet differently when I'm carving, sliding or doing tricks. So the tuck is really a specific position (each person has their own) to be more aerodynamic and i don't think it's comfy to keep your feet as you would when you're in your tuck, when you are carving or sliding.

PS: It's considered a "stupid" question because most people find out the aerodynamic part while riding a bike down a hill and holding their head down or holding their hand out of a car window or naturally when they start going fast on a board. When you skate street or carve your feet are placed as required for your riding style, same in a tuck. Different positions for different riding.
