Quit. After highschool, will you still be wrestling or longboarding? Makes more since to dedicate your time to something you will continue to improve at.

Yeah, I didn't mean quit longboarding. Though if you plan on being an MMA fighter or something of the like, then it's a toughy.

yeah ive been training for a brazilian jiu jitsu tourney in february but i kept re-injuring my left wrist and my elbow and kept coming with road rash. i cant train with injuries or re-opening my road rash and smearing blood on everyone i roll with

my friend at bjj told me "you gotta choose one or the other, not both"

i didnt cut out skating completely but i skate more cautious and not pushing myself to improve, but the bjj continues

pad up and do easier runs for now jsut to play it safe. i wrestled for a bit and road rash would make it so much more difficult haha. but which do you enjoy more? wrestling is only for a few months, so is a small part of the rest your life worth giving up your deck?

personally id just board a little safer

I'm preparing for a fitness exam for West Point, so I stopped pushing myself on runs and limited myself to practicing standies on my flat driveway. Not nearly as fun but still gets the desire to skate slightly out of my system.

but seriously though. having road rash is not good for submission grappling at all. not good for you because it will never heal and could get infected and bad for everyone simply because it is not sanitary for your team and mat and you could get blood on them

also getting skating injuries such as broken bones, injured ligaments and tendons will not allow you to train at full capacity

i also do besides bjj i also do catch wrestling which incorporates many foot locks, toe holds and kneebars and i have been injured and not been able to skate

although i love love love skating, ive been doing martial arts much longer as and consider it my lifestyle and main sport

moral of the story: only you yourself can choose what takes first priority

your problems are multiple. I'll try 'n' help.

    A. WRESTLING IS GAY AND FULL OF TRANSMITTABLE DISEASES (AIDS, ringworm, etc...)

    B. Speedskating is way better than a cheap sport like wrestling. Would you rather 69---er, "headlock"----with a dude in tight spandex, or bomb a hill? If you pick the first sell all your boards ASAP.

    C
    . WEAR PADS!!!

    D. No one likes wrestling except the kids who cant make any other sport (except maybe badmitton, i cant spell that either haha). Everyone respects speed. Speed skating = chicks o plenty.

Never cared for MMA. I know a few people that want to fight in the 8. They too are all taking brazilian jiu jitsu and all that good crap.

I personally wouldn't want to make money by getting the #### beat out of me. I feel that most major pro fights are fixed (the ones that are hype up and expensive on PPV). Though I don't have proof, some fights are more obvious that others.

Anyone see that boxing match with Mayweather vs De La Hoya a few years ago? It was Oscars retirement fight. $70 pay-per-view... I'm about 95% it was fixed. There was so much money involved with it... It was pretty obvious De La Hoya threw the fight.

Oscar De La Hoya, I lost respect for you. I took your money and spent it on crack and hookers because your hot ass Spanish wife is already thinking that you are a sell out paid looser and I hope you happen to be on Silverfish and read this.

Anywho, more power to ya. I knew an underground arena called "The Anarchy Arena." It was about 30 miles from anything out in the middle of nowhere North GA, in the mountains. They let regular guys have at it. Winner makes money. I don't think they had rules, other than the standard "no nut blows, no weapons, and no killing."

Back an the longboarding subject. Do what you wish. The problem with road rash and wrestling is you could tear the scabs open and get blood on the sacred mats, not to mention who-knows-what kind of infectious bacteria you are introducing to open wounds. I could see why he wouldn't want you do have scabs on your knees especially.

Just wear pads when you skate. I have scrapped knees all the time because I don't like pads. Helmets are good, but knee pads suck. I also get too low when I slide and have a habit of dragging me knees. People think I took a spill, though most of my road rash comes from lazy slides.

I feel your pain. I'm in CIF cross country now and we just won that, but haven't been able to skate for a month because my coach doesn't want me to get hurt or I can't run. But I just have one week til state on Saturday and then I can bomb all the hills I want. I say keep at wrestling if you enjoy it and don't give up either altogether. Still skate, but just be more cautious of what you're doing and don't go for it as much as you usually do.

I was thinking about just wearing my leathers 24/7 when skating which is such a hassle especially since there not custom, but, first iv got to get em fixed up. Sadly, as of now im really low on $ and saving up.
and wrestling keeps me in good shape, though it's not as enjoyable as skating, it's still fun. It also looks good on college applications.
But I think ill go with skating with caution, and once I get my leathers fixed up ill start to push it a bit more. After this week of course, got my first match on tuesday, my coach put me on varsity, he's throwing me into the lions den. xD

btw, anyone have any advice for breaking in ur leathers besides just wearing them?

i dont have leathers, but ive broken in my share of goalie gear for hockey. the best way to do it other than just using it is by manipulating the leathers. i used to tie up my pads and bend them all over and leave them in a bent position for the night, then come back the next day and bend them a different way and do the same thing. its all about wearing in the material and loosening it up, only way to do is my really working the material in the areas you want it to move.
