    Default Downhill/Carving Deck and truck.

Hi guys... I currently have Rayne Hellcat with Randal R2 180mm (42 degree) truck. Now, I stay in a boarding school, and the campus is pretty good for longboarding. However, my board is no longer fun in the campus, because it's difficult to carve. My campus has several downhills ( the longest downhill is approximately 150meter). And it's pretty steep too. So, the setup I need is a board and a deck for a little bit of good downhill, good carving (not like Original trucks, they are way too carvy), pretty low to the ground will be good. I love my truck (Randal), and it's low to the ground, but I want a bit of more turn in it.. I don't if my decision is reasonable. The reason I keep say about downhill is because I'm scared of getting a speed wobble. I know the stance, and I don't get speed wobble with my current setup, but all the changes are from me wanting more carve too..

Also, I would also want the board with concave.

P.S What wheel is good for downhill/Carving? I use 70mm/80a Zigzag wheel. Tell me what you think.

    THANKS~!!

You should throw some 50* baseplates on and ride it like that. I have my hellcat on 50/50 plates and it can easily turn enough for a campus.

You should pick up some 50 degrees plates for your randals. It should give you the turn you're looking for. Oh and throw in some venom barrels or venom standard bushings. That board will carve just fine.

Thanks for suggesting trucks guys..! Though I have not got any suggestions for the deck and wheels yet .... Also, What bushing would you recommend for R*II 180 mm 50* truck? Also, what is Comp*II Trucks? Are they good?

I weigh 180 lbs, and on my dropthru I have 90A venom barrels boardside, 85A venom barrels roadside, in Paris trucks, with Randal 50* plates. I just got these bushings today, and first session out with them (after adjusting and swapping washers, lol.. washer bite >_>) I was scrubbing my rear wheels all over the place (a first for me, to be able to do it consistently and at will), and carving was a breeze. Love 'em!

And the Comp II trucks are wider.. They have some weird design, "floating axle"? Someone else can tell you more about this, other than the fact that it requires 4 more bearings per axle. IMO though, stick with what you've got, and lock it in for you via bushings and maybe a wee bit of wedging (although that's more inconvenient on a dropthrough).

Leave the 42° on the back truck and put a wedged 50° on the front. It will turn like a charm and still be stable at speed.

for a board get a KS Scimitar and add a randal assortment/replacement parts kit. this way you can dial in your ride the way you like it. also take into consideration your weight and center of gravity. height plays into tuning a board just as much as weight. imho
