    Talking Getting into DH...

... and I need a board. I'm 5'10" and 125lbs. I was thinking either the Demonseed or the Hellcat. If you have any other board suggestions, please share. Also, what setup would work best with the board you suggest?

In addition, it would probably be a good idea to get a full face helmet for when I start taking on those much gnarlier hills. I've heard that a dirtbike helmet with the visor taken off and snowboarding goggles works good, any other ideas?

    Thanks for the help!!

As far as the board goes just pick something thats been proven good. dseed and hellcat both accomplish that. you may not prefer it to other boards but it will give you a sense of what you like and what you dont. everyone likes different boards just make sure your getting a board that many people like because if you get like a #### board you wont learn anything about how you ride and stuff.

i dont know much about helmets but im getting a remedy for xmas. also why take the visor off? that sounds really dumb just keep it on and then you wont need goggles.

    My suggestion
    Rayne Hellcat or landy dropspeed
paris 180s or randal r2 180s 42* or basicly any truck
lime zig zags if you want a little grip, if you want more slip maybe rfs or stims

    Hope this helps

i think hes talking about the visor as in the part to keep sum out of your eyes some what like a bill on a baseball hat

i would recomend a drop board just because alot of people going into dh feel more comfertable with them

    i recomend

    an evo
    chinook
    or nemesis

if you want a cheap top mount or drop through either look at the classified adds or tactisskateshop.com has some kick ass cheap boards (i recomend the dropping hot with 42* randals and bentes aligators)

ohhhh i thought he ment the actual plastic thing

yea my board (first real dh board) is a drop deck but i feel its good to learn on a higher platform because i cant foot break for #### on a topmount. i just feel its easier to learn on a topmount or dropthru and then adjust to a drop deck rather than learning on a drop deck and trying to adjust to a top mount or drop thru. im dreading pushing and foot breaking a top mount

I started with a dirtbike helmate and a pair of oaklys. it served many a purpose.

landy switch is a great begginer board.
its dropped and has a good lengtha dn width for begginers.

nemi is also good. my friend has a nemi and he loves the hell out of it.

One more thing, what bushings do you think would be good? Will the stock bushings just be okay? And I was going to get a noseguard from Bombsquad, what do I have to worry about for risers?? Thanks again

I'd suggest a Clutch Knuckleduster or DeezNutz. I'll be buying my DeezNutz in another week or two (hurry up, random people on craigslist, buy my junk!).

Damned sexy boards, and I've heard nothing but good things about them. Mine will be setup with Bear 852s, purple/yellow (88/85a) Venom barrels and BigZigs. You're 15 pounds lighter than me, but the purple/yellow Venoms will probably work just as well for you, but you may want to drop down to yellow/orange (85/81a). It all comes down to preference, really.

Based on the boards you listed, and your size, I'd say the Nemesis would be a perfect board for you!!! I personally prefer drop through decks to dropped decks (yes, I know they can be both), but of drop decks, the Nemesis is probably my absolute favourite. It's not overly lowered, just enough to give you a little bit of a cradle and to cup your feet into that tuck. It's super stable for high speeds, but can be thrashed and slashed like no other!

also got Sabre purple 88a for tops and green 93a for bottoms all around.

the demonseed is a pretty big board. im 5'11 165lbs. and i feel like im swiming in it. so id go with the hellcat. you can try out some of those new sabre trucks from longboardskater.com and otangs.

check out this helmet. its what i use and i love it.

2010 AFX FX-37DS Dual Sport Helmet

you can take the visor and windsheild off if youu want. i just took the visor of, and left the windsheild.

If you go with the Hellcat, I like 50* plates on mine. 42* just didn't give enough turn drop-throughed for me. I have 75mm Big Zigs on it, but I'd rather get 70mm. I run it with 90a Venom Barrels all around (before they came out with 87a) and I weigh 130lbs and I'm 5'10. I'd rather have 87a Barrels. The Demonseed felt too big for me. I wouldn't want something that low for DHing either.

    What I've decided on:

    Clutch Deeznutz
    Purple In Heat's
    Randall 180's 35* front/50* back (It's a wedged board)
Venom DH Bushings 85a top/87a bottom
    Biltin Bearings

I would get 42* Randals. The Deez is dewedged 6* and wedged 10*, so 35/50 will end up at 45/44. 42* would end up at 52/36, which is close to the popular 52/35.

Suppose it all comes down to preference, though.
