Smile Questions about DH and the Evo, please helppp

This is my first thread, i live in Redwood City California and i found this site through some friends =]. I know people usually get annoyed when people post new threads with dumb questions, so i read through a lot of threads before posting. Some of my friends and i are new to the sport of DH Longboarding. The only real DH board that we have is a Rayne Demonseed (other boards include sector 9 bomb hills with gullwing bombers and some O-tangs and 2 arbor boards, sector 9 nine star, and a loaded dervish). I have alot of interest in the landyachtz evo, anyone have strong opinions about that board? And what would be some good things to add onto that? Any other board recommendations? Thanks a ton! Please feel free to send me a message, or talk to me on Aim: stnfrdpolo

have an evo and a nemesis. imo neme is the one for dh, evo for everything else. get an neme and an evo or a neme and a dervish and you wil have all the bases covered

what would you use an evo for other than dh?

Evo, crails, longer kingpins for a deeper carve (the stock top bushings are thin and subsequently restrictive) and a bunch of venoms and sabres to play with. then bigzigs or inheats of your choice

the **** you smokin?? and why you not sharing?

i say classic 35* randal baseplate in front 180 hanger and 50* randal 180 in back
with some venom bushings and either race formulas or some p'otangs

:edit: the bombhills is already a pretty legit dh board. just get some better griptape, trucks, and cut it down to about 42"-38".

if you like drifting corners go for the evo. i learned to DH on an evo and the only thing i really got out of it was bad habits when i changed to a top mount. top mounts stick corners so much better and faster than drop decks so i wold just reconmend going with a top mount for your first board. otherwise, the evo is still awesome for dh and i would just loosen my trucks a little and it would freeride as good as the next deck.

A chopped Bombhills would be a pretty sick downhill board.

Evo with force trucks, pink big-zigs and 90a khiro bushings is a fantastic setup, the only ploblem with the force trucks is people say they bend and break alot.

pushing, pumping, carving, cruising, commuting ... would be ok for dh but i have a neme that feels more solid, just my opinion.

to me the evo feels super solid. nice and locked in and no flex. if you have a shop of someone around you has one ask if you can check it out.

sundaeskates.com =] you can get the old or new graphic. wish i new about these amazing sites before i spent 25$ on shipping =\

I think evo is an extremely stable and good DH board. I feel very confident in my evo, but some of the negative with the evo is that the turning is quite bad. Works almost exclusively to DH. For crusing it turns quite bad and is too heavy. I would recommend evo!

Of course the evo doesnt turn well, what do you all think the wedging and dewedging is for??
Racing of course sillies, not really for freeriding or anything else, it was made specifically to be a speed machine!

its fun as hell for freeriding though.
They evo can either turn or not, it all just depends on your bushin set up. I can pump and play "people slalom" on my evo, again fun as hell.

Evo was my first board that I really bought. However, didn't know anything at the time, and bought it from a store. Was set up with 50* randal plates all around, lol.

That thing I actually could carve pretty well! but then when i tried setting it up for downhill, I just never liked it. It felt like a ####### runaway train. Sure, that's great for a straight ass hill. But here on the coast, we like a little hairpin, a little more tweaky runs. I much prefer something with a lot more versatility.

i guess just some boards aren't for everybody, i can still turn fine on my evo with it set up for dh.
its funny though when i first got it i only had enough for the board, so for about a mount i rode around with it set up 50* all around. That was both fun and sketchy, especially since i had just barely gotten into downhill. lol
