    Question Freeride deck advice?

    hi
Im looking into the bustin strike for a freeride deck, right now i have a demonseed with 852bear trucks and lemon bigzigs. The setup Im currently looking at for the strike has the bear grizzlys, 83mm 81a flywheels, and bones swiss bearings. I was planning to order the components straight off their website but i am also willing to get them seperately. So please let me know your opinions of the strike as a free ride for carving, sliding, and moderate DH, and also any opinions/ recommendations for the components and also for what bushings, kingpin, etc. i should use.

    thanks,
    Nate

i dont know much about the strike so i cant comment on that, but personally im not a fan of bears, i say go randal!
and the wheels are pretty drifty, i say try some purple or yellow stimulus/durians from orangatang, flies can get overly drifty in duros over 78a. and the bearings, scrap the swiss and just go with reds. cheaper and get the job done just the same.

as far as bushings go, it kinda depends on your weight. 85a-90a is the general sweet spot for many dhers. barrel shapes and eliminator/stepped bushings are the go too shapes.
TINKERING WITH YOUR SETUP IS HALF THE FUN OF BOARDING.

You're gonna bite crazu with 83mm wheels dude.

The Bustin (or any Bustins for that matter) would not makee very good freeride decks in my experience. The camber is just feels awkward, adn the wedging jsut feels awkward. It;s meant to be a deck for commuting and i guess carving at low speeds...

Some other boards you can look at are the Comet FSM, Rayne Nemesis, Landyachtz Drop Speed, or Landyachtz Switch.

Indeed it does. Just get some new wheels that you'll use for 'freeriding' and keep the bigzigs for when you don't want to turn the board sideways.

The Bustin Strike is an odd board. I don't like them. It's hard to ride that board as loose as I'd like. I'd rather take my Dervish out freeriding rather than a Bustin Strike... (expecting flames from that opinionated statement)

I love Bears, I hate the Strike (seriously stay away from it, bad wedging, too thin, the only thing you can really enjoy doing on it is pushing, and that's pushing it........pun intended). Gravity Drifters are cool and the demonseed is a very large freeride deck, I have experience "freeriding" on a 44" deck and its a lot funner on a smaller deck b/c you have a lot more control and it is a lot easier to standup slide. I went from a 44" subsonic reflex to a Landy Switch and I love the switch a lot more. Both good boards, but the Switch is just more controllable.

I would recommend the Landyachtz Drop Carve. I personally love my dropspeed, but if you're looking to mostly do freeride type stuff, that bit of flex would probs be nice.
