besides the precision baseplate, what is so good about the maguns?

The whole truck is precision, with what I think are 10mm Ti axles shouldered down to 8mm, though I'm not sure about the Ti part. The truck is also a split-axle type, so it lowers the ride height by about 1,5cm, and gives a bit more traction, and it's got a nice comfortable hanger width at 200mm. And there's no spherical bearings or such to take care of. That's the technical aspect of it all.
As for the ride, well, they're less responsive than R2s, with the 45* base and the split axle thing, but they're still quite responsive compared to the Randal DH. Given the short time I got to ride them, I fell in love with them, so I'd say they're my dream truck at the moment

so i have a landy dh and i have been using it as an all around board but i want to make it dh better. as of now it has 76mm 78a gumballs and rII 180s flipped and cranked down.
Q: i want to and have room to drop the board by taking of the stock riser and either have no riser at all or a 1/8 soft riser. what should i do?
-
Well here's my Speedboard.
Curve Swift 40 Randal Dh rear R2 front. 180 Hangers 76mm 75a flys no name bearings.

Well I have an evo...
But my brand new board is a Dregs Race setup with Randal Comp 170 and Kriptos 85mm...
I received it yesterday so I haven't been able to really try it yet... but Maryhill... Here I am !!!

That's funny, I have that exact board. I dont think it was ever the "bomb hills" model. I think it was their basic concave pin (now called the goddess of speed concave). I like what you did with it. Is it still flexy at all. I'd imagine you wouldnt want much flex in a DH board.

It's not mine, it's pandas As for the board, I'm quite sure that it's Sector 9's own race deck, which I don't think appears on their website. It's similar to the Dregs speedboard. But that's all I know about it.

It really just looks like a cut down pin. I don't think S9 would make a board with any part of their graphics under the trucks. Either way Whatever it is you have there is sweet and I think I may pull out some tools soon...

nice s9 those are mgs right?

I quickly tried his board on a slow run (well it had as he used to say " the most expensive setup in the world" (maguns baseplates with JimZ hangers) so it was a slightly diferrent setup...) and it looked really good if you like tight trucks...
I really think it's stable as hell

Landyachtz 11 ply Evo
Randal 180 hangers on 35* front & 50* back
(yes, opposite usual set ups... crazy Evo wedges work nicely with it like this)
random bushing setup with 2 conical tops on each truck in a hourglass shape
(waiting on my Stims to put on the bottom of the front)
Abec 11 77mm Strikers 81a
Biltin bearings
Flys for me... I keep up with my buddies who run 83+ Flywheels and love how the Strikers drift. With 35* baseplates all around I had no control with my weight centered in a tuck, the rear just wouldn't turn. Threw a 50* base on the back with some bushing changes and had a lot of fun today.
