Re: your dh setup
two boards that are seemingly the same, yet so much different.
Legendary smoothdrop:
Shorter then the demonseed, but just as solid. Gives you a smaller drop so it gives a little more traction in runs. Im 5,11 and find the stance perfect for me, enough room to fully tuck and the drop provides that handy back foot placement i love.
smaller wheelbase makes it also more nimble and the finish on it is amazing. i wouldnt even touch mine with my graphics.. thats how pretty it looks hahaha even after being scratched up a little.
as opposed to the demonseed, that i found to be huge, would have to have a slighlty wider stance than i would want with it. it is lower and way heavier.
both of them are DH monsters, but the Smoothdrop and the demonseed are not realky the same shape. it all comes down to preference, so i cant say one is a copy of the other.

Re: your dh setup
it comes down majorly to how wide your stance is, because both are similar, i would just look out for the length. The demonseed has a huge platform so if you like having a lot of room, go for that, otherwise the Smoothdrop has plenty of room and nice leverage if you top mount it.

Thought there would be some haters. Maybe there is, I just haven't seen any posts. But, I haven't really been looking either.
Sweet setup BTW.
I had the 09 Hellcat for a couple months and I liked the W cave at first, but it got annoying. I wish it were a little less harsh, it's really helpful on toeside corners but in heelsides and freeriding it hurts my feet. If the W was just a little shorter and flattened out a little more at the very back, it would be a lot more comfortable.
Sold it to a friend who loves it, and skate with another guy who has two.

Re: your dh setup
I like it. My back foot feels locked into a little pocket while tucked. Really grips for standys. You feel the W when you're just standing doing nothing but when you're int he moment you just feel the extra grip.

nah chip's just a wuss
i think the back is pretty nice I just wished they added more concave on the nose for both the hellcat and avenger. The cave just seems to stop at the nose.

Re: your dh setup
cuz theres no reason to have it under your front foot for dh. the only reason its in the back is for a turning pocket for both goffy and regular riders

IMO the W is just a matter of riding the deck for an hour and getting used to it.
I push mongo, so i am always on the W. I have never been sore from riding it and
honestly, i dont even notice it anymore.
If you dont like it, you could get a vibrating sander and go to town on the W, making it less aggressive if its that big of a deal

Re: your dh setup
I just came in to say that a bamboo/cf/fiberglass Rayne Avenger is noticably HEAVIER than a maple Kebbek Caften (Yes, it was a surprise to me as well). Upon this discovery, I checked with boxcar who has owned both and he too, agrees that the avenger is without a doubt, heavier.
And the setup Im running is avenger with touhous and 66mm lime zigs.

Hm.
Might be the reason Graham did it, but there's also more to W concave than giving your back foot a place to lock in/snooze.

That would be a disaster since the w is pressed into the deck. Its no thicker where the dome is so you would just be compromising strength.
