If you're talking about the 0* and 10* indy's the degrees are so low because indy's aren't reverse geometry like say Randal, Paris, Holeys or even CNC trucks like Smokies. I don't know the numbers myself, but I'll give it a wild guess and say that 10* indy's are the actual standard for the indy baseplates. While the 0* plates are more like a 42* ... or maybe 35*
I dunno. I don't build rockets.

I'm majoring in aerospace engineering... So I do kinda build rockets. And I still don't get this reverse geometry blah blah #### hah

no i was talking about meercat's post. i do believe that what you ride is all up to you, i'm not gonna make anyone ride 50's all the time just because that's what i like, i just can't stand the feeling of low degree baseplates. anyway, i don't even know why i posted my other post, it was just my reaction. low baseplates actually kinda make me feel less stable, or rather, less in balance, because my body is used to counteracting the forces and angles of a 50* plate when i turn my board, so i always get off balance and fall and feel weird when i try to turn anything under that. even 42's with paris hangers felt too strange to me. it's like i lean the board a certain amount and my body expects the board to turn a certain amount for that lean, but the board turns less than what my body is expecting, so then i just feel awkward and lose my balance. idk, whatever, lets see some more setups. i'd post some pictures but i don't have any new ones.

weird, i thought i was the only one who felt that way haha.

It can go both ways though, I'm so used to riding 40* plates that when I switch to 50's I feel like there isn't enough lean. I like having to lean super deep on my board to turn. 50's don't make me fall though... they just make me have less fun! 35* is overkill, 40-45 is my sweet spot.

50*'s on the front is where it's at for me. I tried 42* F/R but I never felt great on it. Trying 50/35 on my top mount reaffirmed that I can't do 42's comfortably on the front. I've switched to 50/42 on my drop thru Pagan.

I dunno. I don't build rockets.
A 0* (C)Indy is about like a 30-35* Randal (Randal as an example)
a 10* is about 45*
I reckon now, a standard Indy is somewhere bewteen a 50-55* Randal
The numbers don't jive, because alot of it depends on bushings and how tight you run your trucks. Indys roll alot more than Randals as they turn. Past a certain point, the further an Indy leans, the less turn per amount of lean. I can make a 5* Indy turn as much as a 35* Randal, or a 45* Randal. Randals have a more consistent sweep, and your amount of turn per lean stays fairly smooth, no matter how hard/tight your bushings are. Does that help?
I don't build rockets either, I've just ridden Indys a lot.

Re: your dh setup
edison i know what your saying...
i've been riding 42º randals and kooks for some time now and going back to a 50 tonight on my new trader (LY dropspeed, 50º/180's, 88a randal barrel and top conicals, purptangs) felt quite weird...i'm thing i will have to tweak the bushings and possibly ditch the 50 is place of some 42's again...
you get comfy riding one thing it seems when all you do is ride that xº plate.....

Weight should have nothing to do with pivot angles. a 100lb person will turn exactly the same as a 300lb on 40* plates. The lighter rider will just have to have softer bushings. You'll have something like .933* turn per 1* lean regardless of weight.

Indys would have a similar rake to a 50* Randal wedged 2*. Greg is a genius.

Re: your dh setup

I just posted my revenger with smokies.
I used to use a bennet cone! I liked it.... untill the pink zig spherical came arounds. But its much funner then the metal spherical ><
And 40-45 is probably my favorate speeds with my avenger/revenger. Don't feel bad that u haven't gone 100mph. We still love you
