I was challenged to see how low of a topmount I could put together. There aren't bearings in the wheels, so ground clearance wouldn't be as bad as the pictures show, and this setup is obviously impractical. There isn't a kingpin or a bottom bushing, and the axles are sitting on the bottom of the hubs.

I couldnt run the 666 trucks on almost any of my decks. The R-bros had to have a half inch riser to work. I ran mine on a dropthrough that was topmounted so I could have the big wheel cutouts. And they hit even the smallest things in the road if you are running <75mm wheels.

I have about 15 DH setups, and this is a DH setup, so I'm not sure exactly what the problem is?

I am the one with the problem.. I just view a set-up as ride-able.. not as low as you can go...

But, I think it is neat that you tried to make it really low! I hate the whole "people on topmounts are slower than dropped boards, because they are higher up" B.S.

Well I could have it set up in about 30 seconds if I wanted to. A bunch of people that I ride with decided to setup topmounts with the lowest platform. I didn't have any intentions of spending like 40 minutes to dial in a setup on that think so that I could ride it, so I just threw parts together. Im not trying to argue that it isn't a retarded setup.

I personally feel like people are on a topmount craze lately. I'm not sure exactly why that is, but it's definitely true. Topmounts with short wheelbases are taking over. It's all preference. Ride what yah like.

Awesome setup. I'd get some orange InHeats instead, and you'd be golden. I'd totally DH that.

the wheels dont have bearings in them. you can see the axles are off center. so he will get a little more clearance

It's just what the current "top-riders" are doing, but then there are those that that have been doing it all along. There are also those who happen to fall in to what the current fad is without even realizing it.

The nice thing about people on topmounts is that they're that much easier to draft...

I would, but my runs aren't very turny so I like to have a driftyer wheel for sliding, drifting, colemans/pendys etc. I have Lime zigs in 75mm and 70mm if I need grip

Small topmounts is not a fad, everyone is just noticing them out of a crowd more often now. Been around for a long time. Its like when someone says women are bad drivers, men are horrible drivers too, but you only remember it when its a woman.

Only a handful of people ride small topmounts, and alot mroe people normal topmounts, but now you only remember these people instead of realizing the dropped and dropped thru boards people have.

Let me guess, you are from Canada?

Everyone in Canada is convinced Bears are the best trucks and that topmounts are slow and easier to draft. (we are talking a 5 cm difference in height here)

I have a feeling that he was at least somewhat joking about that.

+@green: I never thought of either of those situations that way. Although I agree about the topmounts theory much more than the women drivers theory.
