Reason for drilling the wheel base shorter?
My guess is so he can switch before races, or just town cruising to a carve/downhill feel.

how does the toestop help you in DH races?
I like using the toestop on all of my topmount DH boards. It's great for just leaning your front foot against so you don't have to worry about sliding forwards or think about positioning as much. I pretty much just angle my foot against it and go.

Reason for drilling the wheel base shorter?
The shorter wheelbases change the ride characteristics pretty considerably. The shortest WB at 29" turns on a dime and grips the turns nicely. Doesn't feel nearly as sluggish through the turns as the 32" WB but is definitely a lot more loose feeling and has a pronounced sharp, snappy feel to the turns. It's a good setting for speed carving. I still have to give it a run through at some higher speeds though to see how the shortness will affect the stability. I'd imagine it'd feel twitchier.

I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.

I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.

during two heats at danger bay dmennis and i raced together, and let me tell you, how he avoided hitting krimes in our quarterfinal is still a mystery to me.

It looks like a Top Speed with a couple of extra plies on top, and then a layer of fiberglass, maybe carbon fiber...?

He had a Rayne Avenger, that is the same board. He just re-did it. Re-shaped and stained it. Same board, not a new one.
