Re: your dh setup
^ true that on the last few posts. i sometimes feel like i go through setups too quickly, but the truth is that i've had a total of only 7 decks since i was 14 (got my first board then, and 6 decks since that one), so over the course of 6 years. I've had several sets of cast trucks, randals (2), bears (2), paris (3), and sabres (1) (just got my first precisions this past christmas, which was a total surprise), and quite a few sets of wheels (the only part of your setup that you should NEED to change a lot). plus my short board that i've had for years and have since chopped into a mini, and quite a few bushings. granted, a lot of it was picked up over the course of the past 3-3.5 years, but still, i feel like that's not so bad compared to some of the setup changes and cycles that i've seen on here. rather than going out and buying something new the instant i'm slightly dissatisfied with what i've got, i just chop my deck, switch my bushings, redrill my wheelbase, swap my trucks around, swap wheels around, or any combination of those things. another things is trying out friends' setups when they have something different than you rather than buying every different thing for yourself. for example, i've only owned the trucks listed above (in terms of reverse kp), but i've tried chargers, crails, and alpines that belonged to friends. i've only owned either topmounts or dropthroughs, but i've tried a friend's drop deck. i've also tried a dropspeed, hellcat, loki, samba, osd, vanguard, honey velocity, and a couple others without having owned them. i've only owned some brands/models of wheels, but my friends have owned others that i've gotten to try.
for crying out loud, stop buying/selling/trading so much crap, ride what you've got, and try out your friends' things (made easier by making sure that you and your friends get different stuff so your group's "collective quiver" is diverse enough that everyone can at least try something new here and there). it makes skateboarding a lot cheaper when you experience the things that you buy before you actually buy them and then decide they're not quite right.

Re: your dh setup
it's almost like people think their boards are only good for one purpose......
I finally got another board after my evo because I wanted a symmetrical, more agile, drift and go fast have fun setup that I just COULD NOT get out of my evo. But even before that I got a slalom board because it also does things that I simply CAN NOT do on the evo. I'd like to have a bunch of setups but I keep getting better just by trying to do it on the evo anyways instead of thinking I need a whole new complete just to do something else.
my two (soon to be 3) nice boards all ride COMPLETELY differently and really aren't interchangeable in any way. get a new setup because you NEED a new setup, not because "my nemmy just isn't stable/drifty enough"

Re: your dh setup
Who cares what people buy? It's supporting skate companies, the people are getting what they want (even if they don't need it), and if they don't like the stuff, they usually sell it to others for cheap.
Win/win/win, as far as I can see. No reason to bitch about people buying a lot of gear.

Re: your dh setup
My DH deck now consists of the Voodoo XL, only now I'm running it on indy 215's with 93a board, 88 roadside (probably gonna up the 88 to 90) and its amazing. more stable then randal 50/35, and more lean and carve out of 93/88 that 88/88 or even cone 86/88 on randals. But more than anyhting, it puts it as low as a drop deck on randals.
####### loving it.

As long as people are being honest about it people don't really make too much of a fuss about it. I know I am a person who is like this.(I have bought way more board, trucks and wheels then I needed and I know it has held back my progression)
Only thing is when people act like they know so much because of the all the pimpy equipment they have, it becomes an issue.

Constantly jumping between boards and being too busy tinker with them makes it hard to even get comfortable on a board in the first place. I spent more time trying to tweak the set up than worry about just riding in the first place.

Constantly changing boards, setup definitly does not help progressing...
It takes time to be good on one type of setup and really start noticing its weakness.
Once you manage to get over these weaknesses your board has and managed to be as fast as anyone else on it (for exemple the evo, being WAY to drifty and requiring wheels that litteraly glue you to the road to grip a little), then you can start looking for something else...
My advice would be to keep whatever DH setup you got for at least 2 years before changing it... and try to avoid precisions for the 2 first years of riding too.
Then, keep riding it once in while and start learning to know something else... for 2 more years
