Thats right, what a finish to the 2006 IGSA world cup event. The Swedes took a beating, a long with a lot of other riders. Semi's were intense, Anders was nudged to the side of the road in a tight pack of 4. His wheel touched some stone and gave him a woble and he went down hard almost taking out Erik and Jody. He got knocked out for a minute, medics were there in a second and got him to a hospital, the medics called through saying he was ok but had to go to hospital. Erik, a long with wildcard Decio advanced to the finals.
The other semis was Mike, Stu, Luis and Fredrick. Mike charged from start to finish. Fridrick had the coarse dialed and from 4th he made his way to 2nd and advanced to the finals. With a head wind on the top half of the coarse and a tail wind on the bottom section, tactics had to be used to advance.
In the finals Mike planned to charge as hard as possible and keep the lead. But after the hard lefthander you skate past a dam where the head wind catches you the most. Mike was in front battling the wind when Decio and Fredrick drafted him into the last part of the coarse. Fridrick flew into first place with Decio following. Mike managed to draft Decio and get into second. It was close at the finish with Mike just not having enough road to get Fredrick and Fredrick took the Hot Heels Africa 2006 finals.
