rayne demonseed or big red x with randal dh or force c7 83mm flys on the demonseed, and flashbacks on the big red x. get some cheap bearings, quikies and minilogo are nice, but if you want to go the extra mile get biltins

I hate to agree with him, but that's an amazing set up. I have that with 180s. You'll never need another speedboard.

my suggestion would be to get either on ebay, or go down to a skateshop that sells longboards, and get something cheap, and as much as everyone bitches about sector9 on here, they make good boards and you can usually find them pretty cheap as completes on ebay. i would suggest either a bombhills, or a goddess of speed deck, the randal 180 trucks and wheels that are really soft, between 75a, and 83a, and 70 to 85mm in diameter. if you dont like it, you dont like it, but it will be a great all around board that you can use for carving, and also tighten down the trucks and bomb with it, and if you really hate it, hey you dropped a little over a hundred bucks if you know where to look......

get some of these more expensive setups after you know you like it

U guys are giving him sick setups that definitely aren't "starter" setups.

I say get an s9 bombhills with randal 180s and some gumballs.

The reason I say this, is with a topmount and regular 180s he can actually learn how to speedboard. #### I was goin 35 on 78anoskoolz, 180s, and a 36" board with a kick, before I invested into a speedboard setup. If he gets the S9 with 180s it will allow him to learn all the tricks to becoming more stable. Riding dh trucks and all those drop through drop down decks are like crutches to a beginner. He needs to learn how to become a better speedboarder, instead of just taking the easy way out and hitting up an extremely stable setup off the bat.

Now I am in no way saying that dh trucks or drop down/through boards suck. I just think that a beginner needs to practice and learn on equipment that isn't gonna just do the work for him. Plus you can use the bombhills for cruising and other stuff too if you set it up with 180s; it doesn't have to be just a speedboard specific setup, especially at the beginner stage.

    Bomb hills on a carver.
My interest in speedboarding came when I started bombing hills on my Vanguard/Revenge setup. I think that definitely made me a more stable rider.

go for like a top mount with RII's or DH'slike the landy top wedgeor avengeror S9 bomb hillswith a truck that will carve well, so if you decided your not too into dh, you can use it for carving... or when you get better/change style you might want to go for something DH specific (ie sucks for low speeds)

i agree, an s9 bomnhills would be great, drop boards are hard to get used to if its your first,
randals, and gumballs would be good to. i hit my first high speeds on a wedge flex with randals and gummies.

Also, if you are going the top-mount route, check out the pressure drop RD-42.. it's on sale this month for the same price as a S9 bombhills from MHS. It's a real nice stiff deck with comfortable concave. Plus you get the satisfaction of supporting a smaller skate company and not s9, which is about to buy out walmart, abec 11, the red cross, and the US government.

i agree that the bombhills is a good deck to start on. it was my first deck i just got it as a s9 complete cause i didnt know anything at all about longboarding. the guy at the shop said that the trucks on it turn a little better than other trucks. it had randal rll 180's and some crappy s9 wheels/bearings. i started on thea board then branched out with my quiver and i keep trying to retire it to the wall since it was my first 3 years ago but everytime i take the trucks off of it i end up putting something back on it. at the moment its my dh board. i would recomend riding less stable trucks to start with because it will help you progress. rll's would be perfect

yeah im probably gonna make a dh deck this weekend or next week sometime with the few upgrades that i would like over the bh. the flex in the bh sorta takes away from the precision of the jimz's.

i just checked out the pressure drop 42 and it looks like it would be nice but the wheelbase is a little long for my tase though. but you might like it so my votes go to the pressure drop or the bombhills
    I\'ll go first...
