    Default Speedboards and air resistance

ive been thinking alot latley about how a Deck may improve or hurt your speed.

it seems to me that on droped decks like the evo, comishin, and demonseed that there would be some air resistance on the front of the board where the deck drops down. And that topmount decks such as bombhills or and avenger would be more aerodynamic.

    just a thought,

Seems correct to me. Woud a sharper nose would cut through the air easier?

Chris chaput is seen using fairings with many of his boards. Maybe he can enlighten us.

The DH Race especially seems to cause quite a bit of air resistance.

Your board is such a small part of your aerodynamics. It will make a small difference to have a fairing, but not really enough that you should think about it. Until you are maxing out your speed along with the best, it shouldn't be a part of your thoughts for Speedboarding.

I think that the problem to worry about would be your tuck, cause the frontal area of your board is miniscule compared to you. When you look down to that scale, you should also consider the air the wheels have to punch through and areodynamics of the trucks! I bet the trucks create more disruption in the flow of air then the drop on your speedboard.

any regulations yet on how much of a fairing you can have and still ride it in a race?

it'd be possible to have a fairing you could completely tuck down behind, and increase your aerodynamics quite a bit..

I'd think caring about your board's aerodynamics is almost as bad as buying an aero helmet after your first competition.

Hey! its not that slow! I go 40 tops. The hills you have to practice on are not everything but they help. Look at NOVA and do not tell me it was luck( just because i said this i know you will alex <3)

ahaha you can't say that me saying "#### you" to nick while he tried to pass me actually made me faster than him.

You can't say that me totally sling shotting around Ryan was luck.

Dude, how'd you sneak into Chaput's board design lab to steal that conceptual drawing? He's probably already contacted his intellectual lawyer to destroy you.

Nice Dane. I have designed a board in my head with Aero in mind, not really to be aero, but just because it's damn cool. Hopefully I can get it into reality soon.

I think Fairings that cover your wheels and feet (from the front) ane a good idea.
I just don't think anyone has implemented them well enough yet.

one of the hardest thimgs about it would be how it'd behave under impact, you wouldn't want it to hang up on a bump and throw you
It might even be worth using styrofoam and replacing it regularly

I'd love to see one attached to the hanger not the board, so you don't have to worry about leaning it into the ground.

Not that I'm going fast enough to worry about this really...
    I need airbrakes more...grin

Yeah, wouldn't it actually be really good to block off all wind resistance from your wheels? Cus I mean the wheels are pushing and pushing and pushing and if there was no wind, wouldn't they be able to push faster? And anywayz, even if it didn't work out, you would still concentrate all this air into teh tiny crack between teh fairing and teh wheel, and maybe you could fly. That would be pretty fun.
