    Default Some questions about speedboarding

so the thought of bombing hills has always intrigued me... but leathers do not. are leathers a must for speedboarding? i know it's not required, but to be safe, are they required?

can these boards be used for cruising and carving? or are they strictly for reducing speed wobble getting down faster?

can you recommend an inexpensive setup? (besides the kracked skulls board... i can't put on grip to save my life)

As far as leathers are concerned... it's up to you. It's your body, we won't feel pain if you fall on your ass going 45mph+. Would you think a leather suit would be worth it if you had to slide on pavement for 100 feet going 50mph? Doesn't take an idiot to answer that one...

"These boards?" Everyone has a different setup and different preferences when it comes to speedboarding. I keep my trucks looser than most and ride my board on mellow hills and flats, too. It's up to you.

How much do you weigh? If your less then 180 I would say go with a 9 ply. 180's should be fine. But I would go with Gumballs or Fly's instead of flashies.

nevermind then, it seems to end up too expensive not matter how i size it up.

dont even worry about how you LOOK in leathers, my friend looks like what would happen if Tony the Tiger had sex with Evil Kneivel and had a speedboarder love child when he wears his leathers.....

....but he fell at like 45mph the other day and is completely fine, except for some sore knees...

so if you decide to start speedboarding seriously you should start saving for some leathers.

Crappysurfer2 is 225 pounds and 5 and a half feet, and I swear, he doesn't have an ounce of muscle in his body, all fat. If he can sport leather, I think you shouldn't be embarressed to either.

are there any wheels cheaper than gummies and flys that i can use? i don't understand why flashies don't work though... gummies are sideset as well.

and i don't think i'll be doing anything too extreme... saw some nasty wipeouts on youtube. can i get by with a helmet and whatnot?

Sure, helmet, slide gloves and knee pads.

Then add some jeans and a thick sweatshirt. You should be ok for a fall, you'll still get some nasty burn but no as bad as if you were in shorts and a t shirt.

If you fall, try to land on your gloves and knee pads.

    I #### you not. It's a sad story.

He was trying to gain weight, as in muscle, because as you were able to tell before, he didn't have much. Those protein drinks and other muscle building supplements have a lot of calories and don't work so effectively when mixed together. It made him really heavy very quickly. He's trying to lose it though. One pound at a time.
