    Default Leg strength

Does anyone find leg strength an issue? After three runs down tunnel road, at about six minutes each, my legs are pretty wobbly. And for some reason my front leg gets numb . By no means am I a weak person, I swim. However, swimming isn't a lower body sport, and on top of that I haven't been swimming in a month and a half. So i figure I'll need to do some stadiums, and lunges... anyone else?

You should get to skateboarding more. Keep hitting Tunnel Raod, and sintead of three runs, doing fifteen (not kidding). Ride it as much as possible, if it's that long. We have a 10 mile road in Vancouver, and I was riding that sometimes 8 times a day, though usually 3-6 times. Skating is what will get those legs in shape best, as skating is what you want to be in shape FOR.

Holding a tuck for 6 minutes is a long time. I would way you are in pretty good shape, keep riding.

I have noticed my leg strength and balance increased a lot. Just keep riding but remember to switch it up and go goofy if your regular or regular if you ride goofy. at first it's hard but after a while you can match it up just under par with normal footing. I noticed how great of balance I had when I went ice skating and I was able to ride out for a long time with one leg in the air............great feeling.

The only numbness I get from tucks is in my head. I get this blood rush and it's half "high" and half....something else.

Stand in tuck in your room on a board with verry loose trucks for a few minutes every day. Works great for building up leg muscles

Im not sure how much this helps with a tuck, but try kicking all the way up the hills you ride... that really helps with your kickstart.

make some kind of balance/indo board...and then practice holding your tuck while balancing on it. it is pretty entertaining, but will help to build some of the muscles needed to hold that tuck, as well as dealing with balance.

Climb steep hills, one-legged body-weight squats, pretty much anything that makes your legs
tired that you do repeatedly will build strength and endurance. This of course, includes skating.

Much like hill climbing in biking, sometimes you have to accept that today you went two more
inches than yesterday. There are no shortcuts, just mileage, but your mileage may vary.

its not leg STRENGTH, its ENDURANCE. just to clear it up, cuz if u were to ask a personal trainer for instance, you would get the wrong answer.

go run, go skate, do squats, hold your tuck in a mirror.

Try learning more then one tuck. That way, you can switch it up while riding and get some pressure off your legs. For example, the brazilian tuck, is basically kneeling.

i can leg press 400+ pounds, and that definetly does not translate to longboarding, trust me.
How do you do, young Willie McBride,
Do you mind if I sit here, by your grave side
And rest for a while in the warm summer sun,

I've been walking all day and I'm nearly done
I see by your grave stone your were only nineteen,
When joined the great fallen in 1915
I hope you died well and I hope you died clean,
Or Willie McBride was it slow and obscene?
