drop wedge
does anyone know the degrees of wedging on the landy drop wedge, mine came the other day and i'm trying to decide on which trucks to use. I have some randal DH's but i might want something with a bit more of an angle. I was thinking crails, would they fit the drop through?

Re: drop wedge
How about you put some trucks on it, ride it, and decide what set up you like with it. Then ride it some more.

Re: drop wedge
i plan to, but i only have dh's and if i dont like those on it I'd like to know the degrees of wedging and if the crails will fit, I know in previous drop throughs they have had to be modified to fit crail trucks. I dont have the trucks id like to try so i was looking for some, useful, input

Re: drop wedge
im pretty sure the wedgeing is 5 degress and that crails won't fit, using the search funtcion would help you here because there are tons of threads on the drop wedge. You could still get crails but you would have to mod the cut outs, I would say go either holeys or Force r7's if you want to carve more, or randal 180's if your looking for cheap performance, and crails if you want to bomb a little more. Or even force c7's which are similar to randal downhills but turn better.

Re: drop wedge
How about you take out a protractor and measure it?

Re: drop wedge
I'm in school and don't have the board or a protractor handy, thanks though mark, I'm looking to do some good bombs in the 40-50 mph range but i also want to be able to carve. I'll consider the crails and c7's after i test it out with the dh's

Re: drop wedge
a.Crails will not fit
b.Force C7's are a great match.
c.the DH's will be fine but the narrow hanger isn't a great match.

Re: drop wedge
I've had dh with 180 hangers and force C7s on my drop speed. C7s are sick, you can lean SO FAR on em, to the point of static wheel bite with 83mm flys. Doubt you could turn hard enough to wheel bit while mooving though, you would slide out before they hit.
I'd recommend em for sure.

Re: drop wedge
I really love crails on my drop wedge, they're uber stable at high speeds, can cut a sharp line around any corner, and can carve like nobody's business. I realised they wouldn't fit in the cutouts, so i found a file, and ten minutes later i was ready for business. It's very easy.

Re: drop wedge
You should get some grizzlies. In initial prototyping they had us riding drop-weges with them, so what im saying is that its basicaly the ultimate truck for that board. If not then crails, crails on it would be nice. Dont get Forces, over here in gnar-land iv seen a few sets break easier than even randals. Might be a good design but if you know anything about that company they are #### quiality. designed in aussie land then made by the lowest bidder in china. FORCE makes lots of other "Action sports" products and there all like that.
Does anybody remeber the "Something wronge with this picture" thread with the pretzled up forces? I was there. Novice downhiller of average size on a medium corner and they bent like 45* when he made one slip up and slid out. Id almost put money on some one like me or krimes being able to shatter thouse things like glass hitting something gnar like mt. seymour.

Re: drop wedge
well he was using some bigger wheels and did some major slides and I really don't want 10mm axels casue of the extra weight, the fact that i couldn't use my bones swiss and i couldn't get milehighmark to face them. But if they came in 8mm axels i would totally buy it.

Re: drop wedge
i'll probably go with the crails and maybe play with our milling machine to get it to go flush. I won't weaken the board too much by doing this will I?

Can you picture the difference between two axles, one 8mm thick and one 10mm thick, both only 180mm wide? "Extra weight?" You say that like something other than a scale or computer would actually notice the difference.

Agreed.
Although my Grizzly hangers are noticably heavier then my R2 hangers when held in either hand, its no reason not to buy some trucks. The difference isn't enough to make your board hard to carry (i assume your concern?), where as it wouldn't be with some other trucks.
Theres nothing wrong with crails, but i wouldn't skip over the Grizzlies solely for the reason of added weight.

I'd have to agree. I have mine set up with flipped hangers right now and its dialed in. I have had all my trucks on this and this is the best set up for drop wedge.

Re: drop wedge
How much flex does the drop wedge have, or is it stiff like an Evo?

well I guess that sounded stupid, I'm going for the c7's partly becasue they are 35 degress which will be a change from my randal 180's and I heard that they turn nice. For drop wedge flex, I am pretty small, 107 pounds and I have a 9 ply drop wedge and it flexes about 1/4-1/2 of an inch so not very much.

Re: drop wedge
Doesn't it only come in 9 ply? I'll give the grizzly's a look, maybe wait and see if mark gets some in so i wont have to pay shipping.
