@sofa: even here in the Netherlands you will find that tuck matters. Last year we had a run with a speedtrap. Non tucked we had a 38km/h max. Tucked it was 49km/h
Not lightspeed but it was a "huge" difference.

In my experience, it's easier to corner and footbrake while riding standing up, unless you go to full Brazilian steeze (footbraking mongo with your front foot while grabbing both rails, cornering low and grabbing rail, sliding turns) which is tight also,
you basically just need to do what you're comfortable with, and what's fastest. the best thing to do is to practice DH with your friends, it becomes more of a race so you're always trying to tuck a little tighter and corner faster, it makes you a better rider.

I found that once i got to a certain level in my riding where i was trying to corner gnarlier turns faster, and ride tighter in general that brazilian style wasn't letting me do my best, even though at first a different tuck was uncomfortable, it takes time, you develop muscle memory and stamina and you get better.

Now see, that would have been the perfect race to bring out the swedish love tuck. By far the fastest tuck in situations such as that one.

I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.

I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.

I do a slight variation of the Mckendry tuck, I hate the euro tuck (i'm working on it anyway) because it feels so un-comfortable to me, i'm getting used to it though.

[Edit: here's another image worth checking out.]

    [/QUOTE]

my tuck looks alot like this, lol....but that's just cause the kids who showed me how to tuck looked like this only they weren't as tight. so naturally i just tightened it up...only difference is i usually have this, "please don't die" facial experession

but it's a basic tuck so i guess that makes sense

edit: also i get the brizilian tuck and which ever tuck this is....but wtf is a euro tuck

i did, just the only one i see a reall noticable difference ( other than arched backs or slight leg angles) is teh brizilian tuck...all the others look way to similar to me i guess.

edit: also it's been a while since i've seen it, but in the tutonia video wasn't there a giant ass guy who was just killin and keeping up with kevin in a brizialian tuck...and he was HUGE

Brazilian: dropped knee on board, torso more vertical.
Euro: knee tucked behind front one, chest pressed against knee
American: higher, legs not as bent tucked behind each other and back flat.
