I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.

I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.

He was not using a Brazillian tuck, at least not for the whole race. Most of the time he was using a regular Euro style kinda deal but was grabbing his nose with his front hand.

That doesn't look very aerodynamic. The helmet does though. Did he do well in the race?

How can you tell from that angle?

He had a faster recorded time than K-Rimes. He was also barely beat by K-Rimes. I wonder how it would hae gone without K-Rimes' speed suit...

It just looks like his arm is off do the side making more frontal area. Obviously he is 100 times better skater than me. I'm not one to criticize.

that looks plenty aero. His arm is right in line with his front leg. It's probably just as aero a tuck with the hand behind his back.

All that is breaking wind is his head and arm and shoulders.

I have seen him from many an angle and that tuck is fine. Obviously it works considering he does pretty darn well at races.

I've done much thinking about the grab-nose style... And have deduced the reason that Douglas fell in the finals.

When you grab your nose, you limit your ability to correct your motion from side to side in the direction of the hand that you use. Douglas was unable to correct his wobble that originated to the side which he was grabbing. Sketchy business... But it's a pretty fast tuck. As well, it only added a MINOR amount of frontal area.

True dat, i've noticed a couple of times when i got wobbles Tried grabbing the rail, it made me too stiff to correct and i slid out every time, when not grabing the rail i usually just stay with it and slow my breathing and it stablizes. You may be on to something

it looks like his tuck gets his body weight far forward. that would make him go faster down hills.

do you think that makes a diffrence?

I don't think leaning forward makes you go faster.

if it's anything like a snowboard you will be fastest with your weight positioned over the board
