Default Wefunk speedbone + Bear Smokies

Curious if the speedbone could be a drop through with bear smokies? or would you get truck bite at the foam core.....is the board even designed to be a drop through...i see the cut out but never seen it in drop through setup....any pics or advice would be great

    thanks

You could consider going the cheaper route through chicagolongboards. He just made me a very topbone-esque board (foam, CF, stringer, etc etc). I know he's planning on making a speedbone-shaped board with the same construction techniques. He can also custom drop through the board for ANY type of truck. Drop him a PM and at least discuss your options, he can take care of ya.

They come routed for pogos which are like a recessed baseplate, fits jimz, randal, and holey hangers. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think dropping smokies through is possible.

Have you ever ridden a WeFunk? Even stood on one?
Chicago, while nice boards, come nowhere near to even touching a WeFunk. neither do my boards. I've stood on all of the above, and the wefunk is more precise, better engineered and executed, and it results in a board that is just on a different level.

for the original poster: i wouldn't really recommend that setup since it will be so low to the ground, you won't have any leverage. the wefunk wants to be setup with pogos and jimz's, or some other precision hangar, the way it was designed to be ridden.

All I said was topbone-esque. Similar materials and shape. Kind of similar layup. You can't argue with that.

No, it's not a wefunk, but it's damn good. And if a Wefunk wouldn't do what he wanted, all I'm saying is the CLB would be a good alternative. No reason to jump down my throat about it.

Clayski has one with a set of Kahalani's dropped through it and nice soft bushings. It carves beautifully and is a delight to ride.

Though I feel flattered by having inspired similar looking decks THIS would really suck.
I would consider this theft of intellectual property.
If some hobby-builder copies an idea for himself I think it´s OK but to try to make money with someone elses ideas isn´t right.

There is more than enough room to play with original ideas and to come up with new designs.
1:1 copies (as described by pirateswin) just show a lack of own ideas and creative imagination. (and will hurt any copycat brand in the long run)

    Mr. Wefunk,

I already kind of corrected myself, as I was wrong in saying the same construction techniques. They're somewhat similar in that they use CF, fiberglass, and foam, but there are a number of remarkable differences in technique, materials, and shape. It is certainly no copycat. Sorry for the incorrect assertion.

I think the smokies also too narrow (170mm) to go well with the speedbone. Depending on the wheels you might get wheelbite.
However they would be a very good truck to ride beneath the 39" Topbone or the topmounted version of the Speedbone - the 42" Bigbone.

The Kahalani's dropped through smick as they, like a POGO are 20mm wide. The Smokies are 23mm……just enough for you to have to take to your ‘bone’ with a file. Punishment for that is having your fingers pruned with secateurs.

Didnt really understand that but it sounds like you need to file 3mm of the board to fit the smokie baseplate and the consequence of doing so is getting the composite material in your skin and such (fiberglass in skin is NOT fun)
