I dunno for someone getting into downhill...there is the chance you might not like it, so you shoulkd get something that can translate into something else as well, unless you've been doing something else...well i guess im not talking to you, sorry :/
I'd say go with something around 40" thats drop thru(u could always top it) w/ 9ply maple so its stiff(comet FSM, landy Dropspeed,or anything similar like big myth robot shuffle)
trucks simple randal 42s to start your dh career or some other 180 truck with degrees between 42-45(bear 852's are nice two trucks in one pretty much)
wheels lets say venom cannibal, cult gamma/death rays are nice and can get some nice slides out of these id go with red venoms or blue cults( or get some phat deanz )
so we got wheels trucks and a deck i like using those .032 shock pads from khiro helps absorb some bumps in the road so u dont have to replace your helmet or head

and bushings? well i dont kinda depends on you im 5'10 170lbs I use double barrels and i suggest thats what u look to for style...but duro is the part thats more rider specific I ride venom 87a purples b/rside some people like different combos like 90a/84a pretty popular so why not try that
and just saying its nice to look around and see whats out there you never know you might find something awesome like a Bliss Odyssey or Jati Akira

Hey great original post. I was wondering if the Nelson Spindrift would also be considered decent for light bombing? I'm gonna mostly use if for freeride and whatnot but it'd be good to know that it can handle the big hills when I want to tackle them. Thanks for all the help guys.

my friend actually has a spindrift and loves it and I've seen him conquer some big stuff, he got paris 180s and just picked up some randall 42 degree baseplates that he switches out the 50s, 50's for freeride 42s for downhill hope this helps

Can anyone tell me if S9 Godess has good trucks for DH? I've read that Randall R-II 180 42 are good but I'm really short of money (200$, can't afford Evo for 230 and that pisses me off) and I still want bones super reds.. soo any advises?
P.S. if there's a better choise for under 200$ please tell me

almost any imaginable combination of gear (within reason for wheel size and bushings) is a "can't go wrong" setup for a beginner. Gear these days is so good.

PPS I'm pretty sure insect went out of business.

I've just got a Lush Kisiwa, and i love it however my set up on it isn't really designed for something that big :/
So can anyone give me an idea of a set up for this beast.

I was leaning towards the rayne demonseed or landyachtz evo. What do you guys think about these boards for a somewhat downhill beginner?

The demonseed is quite good if you're really tal and generallly a big person.
The evo is an overkill board if you're a beginner, it's way too stable (not even fun imo).

If I were you I'd stick to Earthwing and get a Belly racer. They're durable, great boards and CHEAP! They cost around 90 bucks.

Why the best if you're a begginer? why til 40 if it's only for dh? And if you really want to spent all your parents money with a board. get a carbon evo.
