hellcat with the new and improved bears (more stable and smooth, or get the 10mm new ones when they come out) orangatang in heats, or lemon bigzigs, and last but not least, white JimZ bushings if you are less than 180ish

Randal 50 degree? Check your baseplate.
Blues are pretty soft, great for turning. Randals at 50 degrees already have a great lean to turn ratio.
Khiro reds or yellows would be a bit more stable for DH. Jimz bushings and lower angle rear baseplate would be even better. If you want more stability, you may want to look into a 35 degree plate for the rear.

i started out with the DH Race, Bear trucks, Red Khiros, and Orange Hawgz. baically all i changed was Jim-Z Bushings and Limes. my friend has Jim-Z trucks (old), 08 Hellcat, and Orangutangs, and i keep up, or beat him every time we race. so does that make me better than him?

im thinking about getting into DH racing, but i have no clue as to what is in my area as far as races are concerned and what i should start with. im not real keen on using any of the decks i have (38" NS norad, 46" hand-crafted bomber or 54" hand-crafted pin tail) bc i really would feel more secure on a dropped or lowered board. i really like the feel of the landyachtz and loaded boards but dont wanna throw out a sh$t ton of money for something im just starting out on. also, im not real educated on what bushings and set ups to use. i know i wanna go with randal 180s, but what are the advantages, if any, of the 205s? or is that more of a luge truck? how about truck angle set ups. all help and aiding comments are greatly appreciated.

ideas?

thanks.

dreynolds21, I'm somewhat of a beginner myself but I can answer your questions...

The randall 205's are a luge truck. NOT what you are looking for. Also, you can pick up a good DH board at subsonicskateboards.com

As for angle setups, there are alot of posts on it. I have some understanding, but alot of the folks on here know way more than I do. I WOULD reccomend some 1/8'' shockpads. They soak up alot of the roughness on the roads, and don't effect ride height too much.

Why randal 180's? I've been on the bears, like them alot better for DH.

I'd reccomend picking up a khiro bushing kit, and it REALLY improves my ride quality (on any setup). Generally speaking, as bushings get harder they get more stable, but less responsive. A khiro bushing kit has a number of different bushings ranging from soft to hard. For downhill a good color is red. If you're lighter maybe a little softer.

#### bearings, ill will go just as fast and feel just as safe as you with my $5 abec 3's than any bearing you buy, bearings mean #### all, i just get abec bearings, anything abec tested to 3 has a top speed of 197km/h. ceramics n nylon shelds are nice n #### but #### waisting money on that ####. just get ANY abec tested bearings and you'll be set man, worry about wheels, trucks, bushings and decksm never worry about bearings.

What board are they on?

Maybe tighten your trucks a turn or so, consider harder/different shaped bushings. you could also calm the tail down by getting one 35° or 42° baseplate.

Oh yeah and practice practice practice.

thanks man. as for choosing the randals; i only have experience with those and paris trucks. also, ive only heard good things about randals for DHing.

why specifically red? why not ABECs or RETROs?
