Re: Technique Discussion
when u first start longboarding DON'T ride super stiff trucks. ride moderately loose trucks so u can improve balance and get to experience and learn how to correct wobbles.this will help because when u do move on to higher speeds, u will have more expirience, and your balance will be better.

Re: Technique Discussion
This seems like the place for this question:
Is it a problem that when I drift/predrift heelside, I just hang my hand over my leg? It's not sticking way out or anything, it's just sitting there instead of grabbing rail.
It doesn't seem to bad, but are there any serious issues that I'm missing?

Nope. Some people grab rail when predrifting, some don't, other people mix it up.
For me it depends on how big of a predrift I'm trying to throw. Small ones I'll grab, huge ones I'll grab at first and then let go. Do what's comfortable for you.

That's about what I figured. When I grab, I usually end up over rotating and throwing a coleman, which is weird, because I think I feel more comfortable drifting without the hand on the rail because I do colemans without my hand on my rail.
Also, heal up.

Haha same here. Usually when I grab I put to much weight on my hand and it throw me into a Colemanish. Or it just throws me off my board haha. And besides I need my ofer hand to wave to the astonished people watching me drift a longboard

I guess this has to do with slide training..I mean,do some slides and see if you are more comfortable grabbing rail/not grabbing rail, then try it on a pre drift.I feel way more secure grabbing rail, when sliding, but when pre drifting I like to do it without grabbing rail and when I got to pull it back I use the rail as a help.

Re: Technique Discussion
I learned , atleast for me , that i have more control of my predrifts when i am able to freely manipulate my slide by not restricing myself by grabbing the rail. However that being said if i am coming in reallly hot on a turn of a coleman i grab the rail at the start just because it gives me a sense of as i initiate my slide. But like it was said earlier its all preference

My feet stays in the same place as when I'm gonna slide, doesn't change much, not something you should worry too much.

Re: Technique Discussion
another question: is it possible to make a corner at any speed?
i was learning toeside corners in this neighborhood so it was 1.5 lanes going down the hill and one lane at the corner because there were cars parked on the side. it was a 90 degree turn and a pretty steep hill giong into it so i started low and worked my way up. just for an idea i started 20-30 feet up the hill and couldnt grip it. anyway each time i went down i started about 8 feet higher. iget to about 10 feet from the top and coming through the corner im about to hit the parked cars so i turn slighty away from them through the drift and my wheels caught up suddenly and i highsided*. i knew if i hadnt done that i would have been equally boned and hit the parked cars so again is it possible to take a corner at any speed if so how?
*when i fell i fell i such a way that it spread my ass cheeks apart and when i got up i felt wetness so naturally thought my anus was bleeding. it turned out i just sharted i little out of fear.

Yes,it's possible. But put in your kind that the faster you go,more your board will drift,so always watch out for curbs in the far end of the corner.Oh,one thing, pre drifts are often used in corners,so you can kill some speed before turning,so you better train these ones. And always remember one thing about corners, start in the outside of the turn,go OUTSIDE-INSIDE-OUTSIDE,the fastest path in a turn is a straight line.
