Re: Technique Discussion
what do you do when you have a turn that gets steeper, but is on really slick asphalt so when you try to drift hard to shave off speed you just slide out.

I guess I'm just getting suckered by how easy it is to stick the first half of the corner.

im looking at buying the never summer soldier
{ Soldier } Never Summer Skateboards
it is a drop through and about 39 inches
is it a good size? and is there another deck similar to it that isnt 200$ for just the deck
i was looking at the sector 9, 9star but decided not to because only certain trucks can fit in the drop through.
Check out the classified section here. You can get a cheap deck there.
A few good companies to look into:
Comet
Landyachtz
Rayne
Also, you should learn the Coleman Slide. It's a one handed heelside pendulum done with your front hand. It's better than the two handed toeside because you can put more weight over the wheels (slowing you down faster) and you can see where you're going.
Also, if you don't have a helmet and gloves, get them. Please.

Re: Technique Discussion
don't get anything s9 that's dropped through.
^^he's right about the weighting, but you can do that toeside also, you just have to practice putting more weight on the wheels.
but you should definitely learn slides both ways.

Re: Technique Discussion
GOOFY: Well, what I can tell you is that your front foot shouldn't be 0º or 90º, position it like 45º always, it makes tucking easier and foot braking gets easy too. Back foot should be to the left and tucking behind your front leg (Not necessarily touching it completely). Then try to touch as much as you can your front leg with your torso.
In toeside turns crouch grab rail to gain balance a put your hand to the front, Heelsides NEVER grab stinkbug, always drop knee. Well, that's wht I could explain on what I usually do, hope it helps.

Re: Technique Discussion
Tuck depends on person. One single detail can bug you. You must be comfortable not only when just tucking, but when crouching drifting and getting up again..
It's more personal.

Re: Technique Discussion
I'll assure you most DH courses won't take longer than 5 minutes, that won't do any serious damage.
