yikes I remember skate gear being expensive down there but I didn't realize it was that bad for speed gear...have you thought about pressing your own boards????
and pay the exact same bump-up for the wood? there's nothing like maple or birch growing here.
that said, yes. We cut 3 out yesterday.

Yeah I have, so does everyone here. The Melifont boys are making some boards at the moment.
But Im not at the level of pressing a drop down with beautiful CNCing as the Flushcut.
I could certainly make a similar one to the airflow.

1,200.00 EUR=1,956.23 AUD
add $750 AUD for Maguns - $130 AUD for wheels, $70 for Biltins, plus $10 AUD for grip and you got an Airflow foamie for $2786.23 AUD ..cool!
haha, my cheapest dh set up that I use the most:
Pd 42- 77 shipped
Used crails= 45 shipped
wheels= Got a deal on bigzigs (35 shipped)
Panther ceramics= 30 shipped (another deal).
= $187 USD
I think my set up cost about as much as the shipping and taxes on that board so I think I'll skip it, and I would still probably use my pd if I got that set up.
OK, I've actually ridden the wood Martin Siegrist. So here's the deal.
It's a quality deck, but it's designed for somebody who is smaller/lighter than average. It's not the longest speedboard out there, so if you have long legs and a wide stance you'll want something longer.
And it's got a bit of flex. I'm 82 kg and I could feel the flex when coming out of fast turns. If you were < 70 kgs it would be great. (Or if you just like flexy boards)
And before you ask about the exchange rate, its pretty close to even. Maybe 95 cents to the USD at the moment.
And no, I wouldnt pay that. This shop is just a guage on Aussie prices (a ridiculously overpriced guage, I admit). Probably the most outrageous prices in the freakin world.
You have to love longboarding to be into it here in Oz. I know I love it. I may not be that good at it, ....
......but I love it,..... so Im gonna PAY.
So the price for Martins Speedboard is OK, I totally love that Foamie, but for a skater of my level to ride one of those, seems like a crime.
BUT,... if you are a good skater and youve got the money, ......probably an awesome board to own.
Flywheels are centerset meaning the bearing sits in the center of the wheel. They are flipped to even out the wear, in turn extending the life of the wheel and its performance. This can only be done on centerset wheels.
